Very nice. 2 questions:
1) Lots of miles lately, what you training for?
2) You've been running 20 miles a day for a while, what's the difference in feel doing 20+ in one run versus splitting it into two runs like you've done during the week?

1) CIM... sort of... my motivation is rapidly waning at the moment, but it gives me something to do until ski season.
2) Mon-Fri I'm run-commuting most days, so that's the primary reason for the split. Physically I don't know that I really even notice a difference - I'm so used to it at this point. Mentally I guess the 20 milers could get boring in theory but I've been doing almost all of them in wonderful locations, and Andrea has been running 12-14 miles w/ me most weeks, so in those ways they are probably easier (plus I get to sleep in on weekends!).

Thanks Yasir. I appreciate it.
Russ - I ended up deciding over the past week not to run CIM and just bag racing for this year. But I don't blame you for jinxing me with your question! :-)

Oh snap! I would blame me. Sorry it won't work out, would've been fun to see what you can do, but kudos for listening to your body. I think you're well coached...

To be totally honest I dug myself back into a hole because I didn't listen to my body (or brain). Having a race on the schedule is like a bad drug for me - it gets me to do stupid(ish) thing. I'm much better off just running purely for fun. So that's what I'm sticking to from now on.

Did you become injured?
From Jake K on Mon, Oct 31, 2016 at 12:51:25 from 199.190.170.24
I woke up an old foe (right hamstring) from a long slumber and then ran through the discomfort (despite knowing better) until it downright hurt. It only took a couple days off for it to feel better but my downward spiral was already in full swing by that point and I threw in the towel on racing. Ultimately, probably a good thing... winter is coming and I want to be healthy when its time to ski.

You chose wisely to focus on your winter activities

I agree :-)

Glad things turned around quickly. You'll be in fine shape for ski season.

Gosh I hope so. My resting heart rate is pushing 50 these days (was 39-40 before I started "training" again)... that's going to be trouble for me on the early-season climbs when Andrea is gliding away from me :-)
Although there's no snow in the short or long range forecast, so I probably have at least another month to get myself back on track.
