PR'd the 5K distance by 9 seconds. Perfect morning for a race. The age group was 45-59, so I didn't do well in the AG placing (considering I'm 53). There was another 'grey-hair' in front of me, so I kept as close to him as I could. He was 40-60 feet ahead of me for the first 2-1/2 miles. I figured I could catch him on the 'hill'. By the top I was about 7 feet behind him. We turned the corner and with about 500 yards to the finish I was able to pass him and could tell by the sound of his footsteps that he was not trying to catch back up. It felt great to PR. My wife was at the finish line cheering me on so that was an added bonus. |
