Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

A new PR by 5min! Overall felt great afterwards, the best after any marathon so far!  Goal time was 2:45 and I was able to beat that by over 3 minutes.

Splits: 1-6:09, 2-6:04, 3-5:58, 4-5:57, 5-5:57, 6-6:00, 7-6:00, 8-5:58, 9-6:11, 10-6:10, 11-6:21, 12-6:10, 13-6:17, 14-6:09, 15-6:29, 16-6:14, 17-6:19, 18-5:55, 19-6:06, 20-6:10, 21-6:11, 22-6:00, 23-5:40, 24-6:11, 25-6:33, 26-6:32, 0.2-2:04 (0.34M on my GPS).

This course is probably the best I have ran so far. I saw Paul P. and his friends at the start and I was able to hook up with a few guys for the first 14 miles (thanks Ted and James) which really helped.  The first half felt very easy and controlled, running great.  At 14M we hit the hill and I decided to push the pace up and charged up hoping that Ted and James would come along.  I ran pretty easy through mile 18, then came the new real downhill and let it out again and caught Logan at aroun 18.5M.  I ran well through the rest of canyon and let it out again for mile 23 (wasn't expecting a 5:40, but I will take it).  At 24M hit the parkway and slowed due to the heat, flat and crowd (trying to bust through the walkers during this section kind of sucked).  Turned onto Grant and could see the finish and started to speed up. Saved a kick for when my GPS ticked off 26M and then pushed with what I had left at about a 6:09 pace).

Easy 4.1M recovery run this morning just to loosen the legs followed by a 3.1M very easy run at lunch (felt a twing in my achilles, so made it very easy).

Achilles is still a bit sore today and the weather outside is crappy, so today is a rest day from running and instead hit the gym for a good weight workout.  Since ramping back up this spring, my weight routine has dropped way off.  Today felt good and not that bad lifting performance.

Nice easy run early AM.  Left achilles tendon still a bit stiff at start of the run, but by about 3M it had totally loosened up.  Feels great after run.

6.1M at lunch time a little bit faster (~6:42) pace.  Achilles a bit stiff again and a slight knee pain below the left patella, but not very bad.

Nice easy run again this morning.  Felt a slight knee twing at start, but focused on my form to make sure my kick was tracking straight and the pain subsided.  I think my tight calf pull my form off and started the knee pain.  Think I have it under control and will watch it before registering for Teton Dam, but I think I am still looking good for that race.

6M at an easy pace, my knee is still a bit twingy.  Really bad stitch at 4M slowed me down considerably.  Then I paced my wife for 3.1M in preparation of her first ever 5K race.

Easy run again today, still working the knee isssue.  Not really painful and it tends to get less after a few miles and doesn't hurt the rest of the day.

Nice MP run (knee pain less at faster pace and focus on form), following by a run pacing my wife.

6.2M early this morning, knee issue back a little bit more this morning.  Again it lessened as I pick up the pace and focused on form.

Nice lunch time run at MP.  Felt my knee a bit, but not bad at faster pace and it actually felt really good afterwards.  Looking good to be ready for Dam marathon.
