"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

11.2 miles / 9:07 avg. Stunningly beautiful morning. Sunshine, started at 22F and ended at 32F.

Nice and easy pace. Peaceful Sunday morning (except for the 20 minutes or so that folks were making their way to and from church).

No run today.

Excuses:

1 - Too busy at work.

2- I'm "a little" under the weather.

3 - I've run seven days in a row and I need a break. (even though my mileage is very low).

4 - It's dang windy outside.

5 - I can't focus on anything because I'm too excited for Burt's marathon tomorrow.

6 miles / 49:16 / 8:12. Finally got out today around 1:30 PM. It was mostly cloudy and 45 degrees with some wind out of the WNW. I ran on the LPT from the parking lot to the "Mystery Field" which has a 1/2 mile long track around it. I got there in 1.72 miles and kept running until I hit 2 miles then sped up and made mile 3 my "virtual race" mile ala Carolyn and Tracy. I wasn't planning on doing this but I read Carolyn's blog today about her run, and was inspired by trhe fact that not only did she run a hard mile, she ran 14 miles today! Crazy. I have a little head cold going and haven't slept well for a couple of nights in a row. Also I was wearing my old clunky 2140's. So, given those circumstances I still achieved a "current" mile PR of 6:37, as per Garmin. I don't don't know how I'll ever match Aunteem's 6:10 by the end of the year! Anyway, 3 more miles back to the parking lot for a total of 6.

Splits: 8:46, 8:36, 6:37, 9:01, 8:28, 7:45.
