"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

12.5 miles. I made the uphill climb from my front door to and into Farmington canyon then turned south onto the fire break road. I usually drive the 1.6 miles and park my car for this run but I was feeling saucy tonight. I got started at 5:22 PM. Perfect timing as the sun was dipping below the horizon on my trip back, still in the foothills with 3 miles to go. The mountains on the east side were on fire with the fall colors starting to pop. Met another runner about 3 miles into my run and ran a couple of slower miles with him. It's such a rare event to see another runner around there that I had to chat with him for a bit. Turns out he lives just a couple of blocks from me! Generally felt good on this run. The legs do feel a little beat down but I was happy to be able to still manage the climbs I encounter on this course with something at least slightly above a shuffle. I ran for 2:15:24 netting an average pace of 10:49 per mile, and over 2500 ft up/2500 ft down.

Lysa - that cracks me up!

Nevels - I had this photo up probably about this time last year. Must be a seasonal thing. I just finished reading your recent blogspot. I've said it before, you are an exceptional writer!

Thanks Bonnie, and I sincerely hope you're getting stronger and healing quickly.
