"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

4 miles. Easy 1/2 mile loops on the MFT. Didn't get out until 2:00 PM and paid with strong South wind and 91 degree heat. First three miles at 9:13, 8:20, 7:46. Then one mile barefoot on the grass @ 8:15 mile.

Easy 8 / 8:33 avg. From work, around 10:00AM. Sunny and 70 degrees. Beautiful running weather. I've been putting a lot of focus into my form the last several weeks and I felt like today's run was the first real pay off for the work. Just felt relaxed and easy while holding good running form.

Mile splits: 9:07, 8:40, 8:14, 8:41, 8:32, 8:34, 8:18, 8:19.

Standard 6. Very easy pace today. Stopped at the LPT on my way home from work and ran on very dead legs.

12.5 miles. I made the uphill climb from my front door to and into Farmington canyon then turned south onto the fire break road. I usually drive the 1.6 miles and park my car for this run but I was feeling saucy tonight. I got started at 5:22 PM. Perfect timing as the sun was dipping below the horizon on my trip back, still in the foothills with 3 miles to go. The mountains on the east side were on fire with the fall colors starting to pop. Met another runner about 3 miles into my run and ran a couple of slower miles with him. It's such a rare event to see another runner around there that I had to chat with him for a bit. Turns out he lives just a couple of blocks from me! Generally felt good on this run. The legs do feel a little beat down but I was happy to be able to still manage the climbs I encounter on this course with something at least slightly above a shuffle. I ran for 2:15:24 netting an average pace of 10:49 per mile, and over 2500 ft up/2500 ft down.
