"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

solid run.

(rarely do I even approach dropping the pace by a full 1:20 during a progression run... nice...)

Makes me wonder what would happen if you just kept goin'.

Nevels - the secret is to start at a crawl, then it's easier to work yourself down to mediocrity.

Auntieem - if I kept going? I probably implode.

Lysa - thanks, that means a lot coming from you.

Nice progression. Does that acceleration happen naturally, or do you make a conscious effort to speed up?

I second what you say about starting slowly. I start way slower than you do.

From JD on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 16:43:17 from 70.96.78.157

Carolyn - today's progression run was intentional.

You may start slower than me, but then you kick my trash in races.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 16:58:07 from 198.241.217.15

You're faster than me in the shorter distances. It takes me a long time to get going.

From Lysa on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 17:22:49 from 174.52.15.101

whats that supposed to mean??!

From JD on Fri, Jun 11, 2010 at 17:36:10 from 70.96.78.157

Carolyn - I think your warm up times are such because of the fact that you usually run so much earlier in the morning than I do. I think it makes a difference, because when I do manage to get out on a run by, or before 6 AM, my first few miles are significantly slower than usual.

Lysa - what do you mean what's that supposed to mean?
