"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Picked up my packet for the Ogden marathon which I won't be running tomorrow. I at least salvaged a nice long sleeve tech out of it.

I've got to vent about how rude and offensive the packet pick up situation is for this years Ogden marathon. I can hardly find words to express how unreasonably they've got things set up over there. Instead of just going in and picking up your shirt and bib ("goodie bags" have evolved to nothing more than advertising mailers), they've got you walking through various vendor corridors to reach three separate locations to retrieve first your bib, then scan your bib in another part of the building, and then basically set you off on your own to find the little corner where they've hidden the shirts. If I want to shop at the vendors booths while I'm there, I'll do it. But setting things up this way just makes me want to get my stuff and get the hell out of there as fast as possible. Sorry, I just had to get that out of my system. I realize there are far worst things in the world that can befall a person.

So, I'm still holding out that 1% chance that I'll magically awaken at 3 AM tomorrow morning and have a burning desire to hye on over to the busses by 5 AM and run the marathon. Not likely, and it wouldn't be wise given my current achilles/ankle issue - but you just never know. It's not going to happen so let's just not even entertain the idea.

PM edit: Yeah, no more drama - I'm absolutely NOT going to run a marathon tomorrow. Silly to even consider it at this point. Things aren't 100% in the right leg, and I haven't trained like I would've over the last five weeks if not for the injury. The only thing keep me considering doing it for the last few days is my ego.

Good luck to all the marathoners (and other racers) tomorrow!!

really because I'm still not 100% convinced you aren't running it. I'm more like hmmm 91%. Or 77%

And about the packets..that is super annoying! I hate the expo's. I think its annoying even when it is set up well! Was the shirt good at least? What color is it? Is it pretty?

Thankfully, the shirts are great!

I'm glad the shirts are great. I didn't like the shirt I got there two years ago. The next was all wonky and it never fit right.

As far as the expo goes, marketing schmarketing is what I say.

The Illinois Marathon was the same way. And it was annoying.

I don't think anybody would be surprised to read a race report from you tomorrow, but getting up and catching a bus at 5 would be a strong deterrent for me.

Well, I am wondering if you are running this morning! My guess is NOT, sorry JD, sounds like a very "mature" decision. I am benches today also; missing my practice mini triathlon.

Thanks! No I didn't go for it. Common sense made a rare foray into my life.
