6:00 AM -  9 miles from the house to LPT out and back. Cloudy, light, 65F, some light rain for a bit.

My legs have been tired all week, today was no exception.

 

1:00 PM - 5 easy one mile loops on the boardwalk at the nature preserve. Sunny, 71 degrees and 10 mph breezes to cool me down. It's funny how in the winter even a 1 mph headwind will make me angry, but when it's hot outside almost any wind is a relief.

It looks like you've got a high mileage day planned, with >9 in the morning and a PM run planned. You did just run a half-marathon, right?

Carolyn - I think the recovery time required after a marathon grows exponentially with each mile AFTER the 13.1 mark.

This will still be a mellow week mileage wise, and the pace is oh so slow and easy.

Snoqualmie - I've yet to find my zippy self at all. Maybe someday...

Carolyn - Yes, my legs felt a little better. My pace was a little quicker this afternoon compared to this morning, probably because the run was shorter.

Kelli - if I can get my lazy be-hind out of bed, I prefer to run in the mornings. But if I get a lousy nights sleep, or am recovering from a hard run the previous day, I'll wait until afternoon to run. I don't really like running in the evenings. What about you?

Afternoon---I love to run between like 2 and 4 in the pm. Next would be at about 8 or 9 at night. I just flat out hate the morning! I have said that if I could run a marathon in the afternoon in about 45 degrees, I would WIN!

im with carolyn, you did just run a 1/2, you can chill out just a little ya know. I like the new picture! Im trying to upload some pics but im computer illiterate and im having a hard time. I need to have Scott help me. Although i make comments about you running twice a day, i get it. Bc whenever im running in the am im happy when its over usually and then after being back for an hour or two, i cant wait until the next one. If i could, i would go again later. Its such an insane addiction if you think about it.

Kelli - if you're saying that you would have run Ogden faster this year if the race started in the afternoon...well, that would be dang fast. I'm jealous of your speed. Hopefully I can catch you in 2011 sometime, if you would just stop getting faster!

Lysa - I was essentially "training through" the Ogden half. I wanted to get my time goal, and I did that without pushing myself too hard. The half was kind of like a good speed workout, it let me know that my training is working so far without injuring me. It gives me confidence to carry on with increasing my mileages as I prepare for the main event, the Top of Utah marathon in Sept.

I'll be running more and more doubles over the next several weeks because I don't have time during the week to run a single 15 miler, I have to break it up into two runs...thanks for letting me ramble on...

I do not think you are doing anything stupid, but what do I know???

I do believe I would run faster on proper sleep and in the afternoon, but I am sure I will never get to test that theory out! I do not see myself getting any faster (I so do not like pain), so you will catch me soon enough!
