As a Newton guy, I thought you'd appreciate this picture Andrea took of our Saucony teammate Scott around mile 11 of the 1/2 champs. The guy behind him in Newtowns is nailing his heel right into the asphalt. We got a kick out of that.

He still ran like 1:03 something, so whatever works I guess!

Yeah, that's Tyler McCandless. Newton has always wavered on heel striking versus mid or forefoot, but it is about loading, not overstriding, etc. He does tend to overstride a bit, I think. I was pretty shocked by his time. I thought most of men on the team were just around the 1:04-1:05 barrier (Freed and Neuman).
I also couldn't believe Scott's PR! I didn't know he was your teammate. I thought at that point you would be working for a few seconds (I imagine this is often the case).
You'll notice I have a fair number of Sauconys as of late :) I LOVE the Kinvara 2. A bit heavier than the 3s, but I really like the feel. I bought 2 pairs after a few runs in the first pair I bought. Getting tough to find, but they are out there still.
Thanks for the link!

90 second PRs don't usually happen at his level. It was quite a jump.
Kinvara 2s are still my favorite as well. I like the 3/4s, but its hard to beat the originals.
