Merry 24th! Raced the hurricane 5k with Jess! It was hard, fell behind her at the last half mile but stuck in front of the hurricane girl. Felt like I had a strong finish, just need to have a strong finish for the whole last mile, not just 1/4 mile. Got like a 19:35. And s/o for Jess for finishing way strong!! My heel felt great but when I finished my cool down at home it started hurting again:/ so iced it twice for 15 min with 15 in between, plus a lot of rolling. BIG reminder for everyone- stretch good after practice or you'll end up like me fighting off injuries!! 60 min//7.5 mi

Did Wednesday afternoon run today cause I won't be able to do it at girls camp. 15 more min of icing heel afterwards. 20 min//2.5 mi

Workout around the grass today. Great run switching leaders and pushing each other. Just how races should be! Did 4 sets of differently ordered paces (tempo, threshold, CV) 60 min//7 mi

Runs at girls camp are always hilly so that's how all of my runs were! Ness, Ashley and I weren't allowed to go outside the camps or on the road at all so we just ran back and forth the trail from one side of the camps to the other. My heel was hurting really bad for the first 15 so I was gonna go less, but I kept going and it felt so much better after 20. Finished the last 35 alone. The altitude was hard on my lungs but it was good to practice steady breathing cause I know I'll need it. Rolled a lot after. 55 min/6.2 mi

Luckily our camp didn't have to get up till later today so we were able to wake up at the same time and get our long run in! Ran the first 45 with Ness and Ashley to ease into it and give my foot a break. Ness and I ran into a skunk going down a hill but barely stopped a foot short, it ran away startled, so that was scary haha. Ran the last 45 with one of my leaders, sister Thomas, who runs a lot of halfs and marathons so she pushed me for the fast finish. 90 min/10 mi

After, Sister Thomas taught me about this new thing, scientists are just learning about, called fascia. It's this stretchy connective tissue that covers and attaches to your muscles. And when we hydrate, stretch, and roll well it will stretch, otherwise there's a good chance of it breaking. Which is where injuries come in. Science is cool.

Ran at like 7:30pm in the fields. So tired and got a sick stomach so I stopped a few times but couldn't throw up. I think it's cause I ate 2 hrs before and I usually run at least 4 hours after I eat. Cut it short and flipped at 30 so I could finish. Last half felt better, but overall wasn't a great running day for me. 60 min//7 mi
