Another race day! I warmed like 10 min because the 800 was ahead of schedule so I was a little late:/ I got a 2:25 which wasn't my goal but I learned a lot. The first lap was good with around a 1:10 but I didn't kick like I should've so I ended with around a 1:15. Excited to hopefully improve and work on my form more! I started off too slow getting 4:10 for 2 of my 1000s then brought the next times down to 3:57 and 3:53. Kinda bummed out wasn't that constant but it was good to do it alone cause I learned I can't always rely on others, I have to push myself! 1:31 for the 400 then 2:17 for the 600. 4 striders and cool to finish, 65 min total

No afternoon run cause I doubled my runs the past 3 days.

2 mile race today! Did 20 min warm with Ry and Carli. Ry and I had a solid first mile with 5:40 but then it went downhill. I stayed on the Wasatch girl for the next 2 laps but fell off the last 2. Her next mile was consistent with her first but mine had 20 seconds added on it haha. It was ok but good to get a feel for it! I know that it really is just being consistent and to keep pushing when it gets tiring. Qualified with 11:39, next time my last 800 is going to be consistent with my others :) 25 min cool. 56 min/6.5 mi

20 min morning went slower than usual cause I was super sore..probably still from the relays/2.2

D-hills race day! I need to work on my 2 mile and 800 but I'm taking the ACT so I ran the mile today! 15 warm up. For the first 1100 meters I stuck on Sarah then the last lap hit me and I didn't stay mentally strong. My laps were around 1:13.5, 1:19.8, 1:18.8, 1:19.8. Time was 5:11:58 So last lap best lap really does make a difference! 38 min cool. 58 min total/ 6.6 mi (guess)

The last half was definitely a struggle haha. I had to stop twice cause I felt like I was gonna throw up but other than that, good run and got to clear my mind. Distance carnival at dhills today! Chill meet but it was fun! The 4x1600 was pretty windy for half the track so had to push the first 200 more to make up for the last. I didn't make up for it tho haha, ended with 5:26. 2 mile later with all the girls! Had a pretty solid pack for the first 3-4 laps. Then split a bit. Jess and I broke some wind for Caroline but we were too slow for her! She killed it and and qualified ending in the 11:30s!! I fell a ton in the last 2 laps again..Got a big stomach ache and ended with 11:53. My cold really kicked in:/ Goals for next time and how: Get same split for both miles and practice everyday finishing stronger! 60 min/7.5 mi

Dixie invite! Warmed 20 min, left foot started to hurt this day, then into the 1600. Wow much needed improvement and lots to learn from this race! First lap was around 1:19. Dead. I never brought myself to just get up front and race my race! I stayed with Mic who runs a different way than me. The last lap I didn't have a good kick and mic, along with some dhills girls passed me. Ended with 5:16, 5th. I realized I can't depend on others to run the race for me. I have to get out and hit my laps like we hit our workouts! Cool 35 min. 55 total/6.8 mi

Dixie invite part 2! Warmed 25 min for the 800. Discovered from yesterday that if I'm not in the mindset of racing, I'm not racing, so prepped myself to be more mentally prepared. The first lap was good but as I hit the second I knew I had to be faster. On the 300 I started moving up and kicked the last 100! Got cut off at the end but made it with 2:23.53! Next time I'm gonna kick at the 200. Cool 40 min. 65 min total/7.3 mi

El, ad, and I ran earlier at 5! We did the Foremaster loop. Felt super great for 30 min but then I kept feeling that familiar ache on the side of my left foot. I didn't go as quick on the fartlecks (1,2,1,2,1) and finished a bit slower as the pain worsened:/ it hurt really bad, so after hanging posters I iced on and off for about 40 min. It helped for a little but it started hurting again soon. (60 min total)

Took afternoon run off and talked to the physical therapist. She advised replacing some running time with cross training that wouldn't put stress on my foot, like biking or swimming. Also more icing and stretching!

Morning workout. The warm-up and 5 tempo hurt really bad and had to stop once but I realized it didn't hurt when I picked my feet up faster and got moving. The first set of 200, 400, 800, 400, 200 hurt a bit because my foot burned. The second was the opposite! Totally normal and I was able to finish those repeats with faster splits! Good workout, everyone did good today! 65 min/7.8 mi

Replaced afternoon run with biking. Went with my sister about 8 miles it was really fun :)

Orem tiger trials!! Cooold meet with some wind but no rain:) The 1600 was pretty good, need to work on 2nd lap keeping it solid after the first. But most of all to just keep fighting, got a 5:12, 4th. S/o to Jada for pr'ing a good amount and winning her heat!! First lap of 800 I tried to get in the mix towards the front of the group but by the second lap I was already getting passed a lot. Last 300 I ran alone and ended with 2:28. Tiring race but it'll get better! Lastly, the 4x400! Jada and Caroline started awesome with 1:04/5's then to Jos, then me. Got around a 1:05. Around 65 min total/7.8 mi

Herriman meet today! Took the apush test then we were on our way. S/o to holt for his legit driving skills and getting us to the meet in time for the medley! Warm 5 min. Kaylani and Josie started us off good, then Jada with a nice 1:03 in the 400, and I finished with 2:23 for the 800. 2nd place + we qualified!! Cool 15 min. Later, warm 10 min for the 4x400. Jada started getting a speedy 1:00/01! She is getting so good!! Got a around a 1:02. Didn't qualify but next time! Cooled 20. About 55 min total

First race for state! Went into the mile fast just behind Caroline getting around a 1:13. The rest of the splits were around 1:21.6, 1:22.05, 1:21.38- getting a 5:18.64 overall. My third lap was definitely the weakest because I didn't make any moves or surges. And my last I got passed by a few ending 7th. Head hurt last half and afterwards I just wanted to lay down. So took ibprofen and Drank lots more water that day! S/o to Jessica who killed it pr'ing by a second and placing 6th!

Medley about 7 hrs later with Kalani, Josie, and Jada! Felt better during the 800 but still not as good as I wished. Went into the first lap good and passed a girl but second lap wasn't as strong. On the bright side my handoff with Jada went good! Ended with around a 2:25, 7th place.

Last half of state track! Didn't think about 2 mile at all before to stay chill and keep my anxiety down. The tuna wiggle wasn't as weird and threatening as we practiced yesterday but I could still feel the chillness and power from it haha. First 2 laps we had a solid group then Jess broke forward to the top group while Ry, Jos, Caroline and I stayed behind. By the 5th and 6th lap Ry took a good lead with Jos, Caroline, then me behind. Listening to coach when he yelled to me to get up with the pack and surge each time we came around helped so much. I remember thinking of the last 800 as one I wanted to push myself more and finish strong. So after working with Caroline I moved my way to Jos for the last lap. The last stretch I kicked to Ry and we battled while the cedar girl randomly passed and claimed 5th place with Ry placing 6th! My dad got my laps: 1:18, 1:27, 1:24, 1:27 (5:37ish mile) 1:31, 1:31, 1:27, 1:20 (5:50ish mile). 5th and 6th laps could definitely use improvement! Finished with an 11:27.42, 7th place..again haha. All the girls did so good and this race was so fun cause it felt like cross country again!

Last race with Jos:( I'm gonna miss her so so much. I look up to her great leadership and hard work!! The 800 was pretty good, first lap faster than my last. Should've started my kick earlier cause at 150 meters 3 girls passed me. Gave it what I could tho, ending with a 2:23.01 (pr by .41 seconds), 7th place. Seriously the worst number. Ever.

State track was so fun and a great experience! Track season overall was awesome because it taught me to see and realize a greater potential for me and our team as a whole!!

Luckily our camp didn't have to get up till later today so we were able to wake up at the same time and get our long run in! Ran the first 45 with Ness and Ashley to ease into it and give my foot a break. Ness and I ran into a skunk going down a hill but barely stopped a foot short, it ran away startled, so that was scary haha. Ran the last 45 with one of my leaders, sister Thomas, who runs a lot of halfs and marathons so she pushed me for the fast finish. 90 min/10 mi

After, Sister Thomas taught me about this new thing, scientists are just learning about, called fascia. It's this stretchy connective tissue that covers and attaches to your muscles. And when we hydrate, stretch, and roll well it will stretch, otherwise there's a good chance of it breaking. Which is where injuries come in. Science is cool.

First race! Wasn't what I expected of myself cause I just didn't accept the pain like I should've. Got out good, first lap just behind Caroline and Jess, lost them the second. My heel hurt from the start, but I tried to focus on the pack instead which helped! When Alli and El passed me the second lap I knew I need to start moving more. On the last downhill I pushed more and passed Trinity and finished behind Ellie! Glad I finished strong. Bob Firman race! Got off in a good position right with Jess and Caroline. I stuck with them for the first mile and a half then fell off a bit. The first lap was pretty good, then the real challenge came. The pain hit and I told myself it was good but didn't convince myself enough to push harder. I tried, but not enough. I was positive, but still had nagging negatives. When Ellie came up I pushed but didn't stay with her or Alli. Negatives/will overcome next race- didn't push up hill well, finished last 200, not 800. The positives were I pushed and passed after the beach and same with the downhill. I got into good position to start and stayed with Jess and Caroline longer! Also Pr'd by 15 sec from last year's bob firman time, and 3 seconds for a 5k! Great but still I still have much more to do and our team does too! 50 min//6 mi

Heel hurt really bad so my cool down was super chill, gonna need to get back into a routine of icing

Long progression run to past Dixie rock! Had a hard start/middle with my heel. Trying not to limp so I don't injure my other foot haha. But it got better, and the weather was amazing. Started at about 8 min/mile pace and made our way down to finish at 6:40 min/mi. Lots of downhill the way back so that accounts for the huge gap. Region at Sand Hollow Golf course! Mentally preparing definitely helped me have a better race than other ones. For sure going to mentally prepare more for state. There's good, better, best- today was a better race. It wasn't best because I didn't finish. I let the 2 dhills girls beat me and didn't put up my best fight. But man state is gonna have the best finish!! My positive was that I was progressive throughout the whole race and passed girls instead of getting passed. The cowbells helped push me and everyone cheered like a solid team does!! Also pr'd by 27 sec so that was cool, but there is more I need to do. Much needed scolding and getting put back in line talk by awesome coaches! Grateful for the lessons today so we can be ready for state!! 50 min//6.5 mi

BACK 2 BACK STATE CHAMPS 2017!! Though the season was rough, our team made it! The downs we're used to lift and make us better and lead us to reaching one of our biggest goals!! I love this team. I live the girls I run with, my coaches, parents, family, and our whole pvxc team! The theme of seek together was perfect for our team this year :) Felt pretty mentally prepared but I know for Nike I'll need to be more ready. We started good, using that first 7 sec to sprint. Got into a good position and found teammates. Stayed behind that first group till about after the lake where Ellie passed and pushed me, then Riley. I stuck behind Rylee not with her, that's one thing I need to work on. At the 800 I saw the 2 girls that passed me-mountain view and dhills- and told myself I'd finish before them. So I did and that split second decision made all the difference! Finishing was scary cause I couldn't see and got dizzy so I practically threw myself on a boy near me hahaha thank goodness he was nice and helped me walk. Finished 18th with 19:24.7 (.4 sec pr from last year:/) team wise- 1st in 4a, 5a, and 2nd in the state by 7 points! Still have much to go to reach our next goal but once we bring our pack closer to Jess we can do it! So proud of all the girls, best way to end my last season of cross country for pine view <3 50 min/6.2 mi 20 min//2.3 mi

Run on the Chuck-a-wala trail with jos, el, ad, al, and Roberts! Sad that no one else showed up but hopefully next week more can come! Nice run, we did the loop and it is sooo pretty up there. My foot also felt really good. And no one fell so that's a plus! 48 min//5 mi
