AM - 11 Parkway x 2.  Went out on the Parkway on my own, then went on it for the first day of practice.  Finished by taking Molly around.  (Landreth orange 261.35)

afternoon - 5 barefoot grass.  Ran over to the ball fields and ran 4 miles easy on the grass including 8xstriders.  A five miler seems to short for my body to really warm up and get the kinks out.  But on the positive side, got home and was able to start carbo loading after the glycogen dump yesterday.  This is good, because it is very hard to avoid carbs in my eating; and I think it makes me pretty pissy.  (cumulus white 690.85) (barefoot '09 92.75)

Lucky you, carb loading while I am trying to lose weight.

dave, could you explain you carb dumping and loading. I have never really payed much attention to this.

mmm... food!

Ryan, what I try to do is get a big workout in that really burns the glycogen up and then don't do any of my normal recovery drinks/food (stuff like choco milk, endurox, high carb foods - in fact I do everything I can to totally avoid them). The idea is to get the body to then create its own stores of glycogen over the next 24 hour depleted period. Then after all the runs of the next day (some people don't even run the next day) just start eating as much carb stuff as possible. Maybe 3 times what the "normal" person might eat or more - so that means lots of whole grains, etc... I do this for the next couple days to really boost the stores up. Finally Friday (with a Sat. race) I just eat normally and try not to upset the stomach, since the loading often leads me to be kind of bloated and overly stuffed.

It is something I have been trying to work on and tweak to my correct liking/efficiency for the past couple years and have found that this system works pretty well for me.
