Snow shoeing Battle Creek Caynon. First time I've ever seen a live mountain lion in the wild.

How was it-seeing a live mountain lion? Were you very close? What was the temp in the mountains yesterday? I turned down snowshoing cause I was afraid it was too cold...

Some trackers with hounds had treed the mountain lion. So it was at the top of a very tall fir tree. It's white neck and belly fur made it look like the angel on top of a Christmas tree. It seemed content to just stay there and wait until everyone left.

They say there are lions all over the place but you never see them because they are so stealthy and fearful of people.

I wanted to get closer to take a picture of it with my mobile phone, but the climb was too steep, and the snow too deep... and many miles before I sleep.

I have a couple of friends who might go snow shoeing with me on Saturday at around 11am in the same place. Call if you want to go. (No guarantee we will see another lion though)

Thanks for the invite. I will be busy at that time, have fun!
