Welcome to the blog! You know who has similar goals to you--KellyP.fastrunningblog.com.
That is so cool that you want to do a half marathon this year. I just barely ran my first half and it was an amazing experience. Good luck with your training!
I am registered to run the Bridal Veil 10K on May 31, the Riverwoods 10 mile on June 14 and the Provo River Half on Aug 09.
I will also run the DesNews 10K on July 24 with some work buddies and I'm considering the Running with Angels 5k at Thanksgiving point on May 17.
My routine for the last 2 months has been a 3 mile run with work buddies on Tuesday, speedwork on Thursday and a 10 mile run on Saturday morning. I do weight lifting whenever the Jazz play, mostly upper body, but some squats and sit-ups too.
Yes Daniel, just 3 days a week. And thanks for the Welcome.
I'm going to try to add a 3 hour hike to my weekly routine. But as is, my legs are sore all the time, so I'm not sure whether to add any more running or how much if I do.
Oh yeah, I also walk 3 miles about 3 times a week (fast walking with the doggies) Does that count?
I would suggest you run about 2-3 miles a day consistently (6 days a week) and go for a long run of around 4-5 on Saturday if you want. My guess is that your legs are sore most of the week because of the shock of a 10 mile run on Saturdays. By running a few miles everyday, your current mileage will be about the same, and it should be easier on your legs.
Looks like you are well on your way to achieving some fine goals. Already running 10K is a great thing. I am slowly working my way to that distance so I will be watching your progress closely.
Well, Christina, it was your idea for me to try this so I hope you check in once in a while! I'll be watching your blog too and gleaning ideas from your experience and tidbits of wisdom trickled down from Coach Bill.
In Norse mythology, Hildisvíni (“battle swine”) was Freyja's war boar which she rode when not using her cat-drawn chariot.
Friday is name after the goddess, Freyja similar to how Thursday is named after Thor.
I picked "Hildisvini" simply because the thought of riding a swine into battle makes me chuckle.
