Race: Deseret News 10K (6.2 Miles) 00:01:09

DeseretNews 10K.

Time: 1:09, just over 11 minutes per mile. I'm really happy with that time, even though I didn't achieve my 10K goal. It is about a 10 minute improvement over last year. Yeah! So in an attempt to avoid complacency I will say that cutting 10 more minutes off for next year should be easily within reach.

I ran with 3 friends from work: Ben, Smeagol and Steve. They all liked the race and seemed to be looking forward to running it again next year. I saw Christina and a couple of her running friends Jodi and Char (sp?) They also seemed happy with their times.

DesNews 10K is a great race. Good treats at the end and so fun to watch the Marathoners come in. Running conditions were much better than last year (less humidity).

Congrats on running a great race! 10 minutes is a huge difference, no doubt you will continue to drop your times.

Thats a great improvement! Good job! I'm really glad the weather was better this year! You didn't even need the first aid tent! Just kidding!

From Hildisvini on Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 15:30:37

I didn't need the first aid tent but I must have appeared near death as medical people kept trying to give me assistance. "No. I don't need oxygen. No. I don't need a stretcher. No I don't need fluids". Nobutseriously, a race official actually asked me if I needed a medic. I was limping pretty hard, but I have since mostly recovered. [HAPPY ENDING]

Good recovery! You deserve a 1/4 of a chubby melt for your efforts!

From Hildisvini on Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 16:31:24

Chubby melt feast is a done deal! But not until after the Provo 1/2.

Thanks for cheering me on during the last block, BTW. Distraction from pain is always appreciated.

Beautiful race, beautiful job. I want to do it again! I'm going to smash apart an hour next year, wanna join me?

From Smeagol on Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 18:46:51

This chubby melt better not disappoint me. I'm getting hungry.

Maybe for the 1/2 marathon you could bring your super hero sheep dog
