Short-Term Running Goals:

-Find some good local races to run that will motivate me to stay in shape.

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list.

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I live in the Twin Cities with my family and am an Epidemiology PhD Student. Running is the only hobby I have time for :)

6:45 pace coming back from east river road (so, somewhat slower than that overall). But man I'm just still feeling tired. Kind of a bummer.

Seems hard to believe- I ran 6:47 pace coming back from west river, despite hopping on the Winchell trail early (where it is really curvy and slow)

I am pretty sure this will be the last day of the year that I run without gloves in Minneapolis.

6:14 pace. I found myself running the Winchell trail again, only this time I crossed the river at the Franklin Ave bridge so I made it all the way to the vets home. I guess I just wanted to take advantage before the snow comes. So yeah the effort was somewhat faster than that given the terrain. Winter long runs probably feel more boring because during the summer I'm so often racing, a week out from a race, on the gateway trail, or traveling so I don't do the typical runs that often.

NCAAs today. BYU men got 3rd which is great, that was their ceiling. BYU women decided to run someone else's race instead of their own and went from 1st at 2K to 14th. Really a shame to waste so much fitness trying to get position early at the cost of breaking yourself.
