Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

It was totally dumping rain but could have been much worse as the forecast last night called for 100% chance of thunderstorms for like 3 straight hours. Was a little frustrated that I had no idea where the mile markers were or even when to turn around. Turns out I did it right at 4 miles, and averaged 5:22 on the way out and 5:16 on the way back. 5:19s overall. Would have liked to go faster but I think it is a solid improvement. Doing that on my own, on the walking path (more twisty than the bike path) in the wind/rain was not easy. Hamstring hurt a bit on the way back.

Really tough race. Actually didn't feel too bad going out in like 20th-30th (35th at the mile), but got eaten up. Already strategizing for how to fix whatever went wrong. Tough day.

Apparently I was going 6:15s, didn't feel like it. Really cool run on the gateway state trail. Been having a lot of thoughts about how to go forward. I am optimistic.
