Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

Long run, half of it with team. Hurdle drills. Hernia felt fine, felt my hamstring but a little bit less, I also had a charlie horse in my upper calve last night but that shouldn't be a major issue.

AM: 10 miles.

PM: 5 miles.

This will be the blog post where I list runs I have found in my new area (Twin Cities) much like I did in Mapleton. Here goes:

-St. Anthony Parkway: Go north on Industrial and follow the pathway for at least 10 miles, although you could continue on for more.

-East on Como Ave. To Como park and east on the parkway.

-Como ave To St Paul backroads

-Gatway state trail headed northeast (park at Arlington Arkwright park? 13 min drive)

*Given my concerns over air pollution recently, I am updating this list*

St. Anthony Parkway- Find a different way to get there, then take Stinson Parkway to 31st Ave and then head west to meet back up with the trail.

St Paul campus farms

Gateway state trail, particularly the back 1/2

Como Ave/Golf course -> St Paul campus -> Como park -> Roselawn cemetery and adjacent parks

More

*Another Update*

From Campus

-East River Parkway south

-West River Parkway south (try going to Minnehaha trail for an LR)

-Transit / Campus loops

From Home

-St Paul Campus farms

-Como Lake loop

-Minneapolis Diagonal hook: loop around the cemetery and run the whole loop.

Driving

-Gateway State Trail

-Try Pike Island

Warm-weather from house mid-length rotation: Diagonal Hook, Farmers Fields, Como Classic, St Anthony Parkway, West River south, Boom Island, East River, West River north

Workout at a cool place on the St. Paul UMN campus in these agricultural fields. 500, 3xmile, 500, 2xmile, 500. This workout did not feel very good for me. I just felt like I was dying. I would have been better off finishing my food earlier but that should be taken care of next week. But I feel positive about it because this was my first interval workout. I feel a little behind the game not doing this till mid September but in reality what this means probably is that I/we will come on really strong at the end of the season. That's no excuse for not running well next week though. 87, 5:00, 5:00, 5:00, 86, 4:56, 4:56, 87 is what I remember them being about. Doesn't really matter, its a weird and not very fast loop.

AM: 10 miles and weights

PM: 5 miles east on Como Ave towards Como park. I loved it! Nice place. I think I've found my double run, or at least one of them.

1 minute on, 1 minute off (6 minute pace ish) for 20 minutes total. And 6 by 20 secs on hills. Was a little stressed about some things which is never good to bring into running but that's life.
