Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

6:51 pace, boom island.

Found out yesterday I may be out from running for longer than I thought post-surgery. That made me very sad.

Mindlessly did the east river flats turnoff instead of the bridge to west river, so I got there via the UMN bridge instead. Mileage estimated.

Kind of weird run but fun. To go out with a bang before my surgery, I decided to wake up a little early and bike to Minnehaha park. I had a problem with the app, and a person trying to be helpful ended up taking the last functional e bike. At least that means I can feel like this was a more legitamate two-event workout, even though it meant getting a hip workout. It was raining when I got on the bike but stopped pretty soon after. I did 7.8 miles in 37 minutes. Then I got off and ran around pike island. I got lost once but it was in a cool place. It felt like the middle of nowehere, except a huge bridge passing overhead. Kind of interesting. Then I ran around pike island. It was pretty cool. I realized I was taking longer than I intended and pushed it hard on the way home. Despite this, I only ran 6:00 pace for the 17.02 miles. That is dissapointing. I was soaked in sweat due to the humidity. I think either hypoglycemia or dehydration caused the slow pace. Doesn't matter too much as I am about to lose all my fitness anyway. It was weird getting off the bike and running, my legs were still trying to pedal. It was kind of funny while it lasted for like 10 min.
