Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

Didn't go super far today to be careful with my hip. Felt sore, but was fine after it got warmed up. Just need to be careful. We did 4 by 1k with 2:15 rest, alternating 200s in 33 and 38. Wore trainers and never really "woke up", since it was that easy of a workout. Thus, I led the last one and it was pretty poorly paced. For example after the first 200 I forgot to slow down...oops. 2:52, 2:54, 2:55, 2:51.

16 miles, 6:28 pace. Planned to go this morning, but after the freezing rain last night, I only lasted 10 seconds before I knew it wasn't going to work. And I fell for the first time this season. Hoping my ankle will be ok. I planned to run on the treadmill this afternoon but thankfully things seemed melted, and it wasn't raining/snowing, so I enjoyed a nice run. Hip/ankle/achilles all felt ok.
