Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

AM: 5 miles. Note that I ran this pretty fast, and using some calculations, started doubting that the turnaround point on my classic morning run was accurate. When I mapped it out, it looks like indeed it was a little short. So I need to definitely go the majority of the way to the curve before turning around. I still ran like 6:40 pace this morning though.

PM: 8 miles. Today I found out we won't be able to attend one of the races we had planned on in April. That gives me ONE shot at sea level to get a regional qualifying mark, in about a month. That is kind of dissapointing, and puts the pressure on for that one race. But a) I stand by my decision and the reasons for which I made it (I do feel like my body was telling me to take a break) and b) I am no stranger to high pressure races. There were probably three or so XC races where my ability to travel to the next race depended on me performing well in the current race. So I need to not sweat it and trust that I will be able to perform well when it counts, even though I've never run a track 10K before (which is what I hope to be able to run).
