2 x Deseret News 10k winner

3 x All-American at BYU (back in the day)

10 x state champion in high school (way back in the day!)

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would like to run an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon.

I would also like to run on one more international team before I pack it in!

 Stay healthy!  (My biggest challenge!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run my whole life, and then live vicariously through my children. (just kidding) , but I do want to pass on a healthy lifestyle to them.

Help coach East High to a state championship. (hope it doesn't take a lifetime!)

Personal:

I've been running since I was nine.  I'm married to a fellow runner who inspires and supports me.  We have two children:  Cole (4) and Lily (18 mos.)  I help Bill Cobler coach cross country at East High School.

Treadmill progression  run.  Start at 7.5 mph,  increase every half mile.  Plus 1 minute pushes every 5 minutes.  Finally got down in the low sixes at the end of the workout.

My goal is to get more structured and consistent  with  my training.   I'mean running  a  5k on Thanksgiving, so it's  time to start incorporating some speedwork.  It's  a long  slow road back to fitness.

Easy run around my neighborhood listening to Radio Ronin, my new favorite podcast.  My legs were pretty tired from yesterday's faster workout.  7:49 average.

Pretty windy this morning.  Not a lot of fun to run in.  I warmed up 20 minutes and then ran 3 x 3-2-1 minutes with 2-2-1 minute recovery.  About half a mile jog to finish.  7:21 average.  It's tough getting the legs to turn over early in the morning.

Extra tough getting out the door this morning, but I made it! Just a short, easy recovery run before tackling a longer run tomorrow. SLCC loop with some add ons.

Afternoon run. I loved the sunshine. 7:05 average. It's nice seeing progress. And I managed five days straight of running. Baby steps.
