Personal:

I am married and have two wonderful kids, 14 and 10.  I've been running since 1982.  I never get "basic" injuries.  I always get the real nasty career threatening kind, like stress fracture of the sacrum, ganglion cyst clamping  down on my peroneal nerve.

Ran a pretty good 13 miles w/ Jacki on the trails at Hawthorn, through Woodridge, Deming Park, Dobbs Park, Lincolnshire, etc. and back in pretty quick 1:32:48. Legs are a little sore, struggled in spots but an overall good run.

Ran a somewhat quick 7 miles in 47:12 after a slow start.  First mile was 7:20, rest of the way was just about 6:40 pace.  With the last mile in 6:26.  Today was supposed to be recovery day since I'm doing speed work tomorrow, but 6:40 pace was very effortless today.  Temp pretty cool 77.  Legs feel really good considering I put in my first 80+ mile week in 18 years.

Totally exhausted from work.  Only got 3 hours of sleep and stressed out today.  Tonight went to WW to do 400s.  Ended up doing a 4.5 mile warmup because I felt so crappy.  Started out slow, but went about 6:40 pace the rest of the way w/ last mile in 6:28.  Then tried to do the workout.  Managed only 4 400s (82,79,79,81).  Knew I wasn't going to make the whole workout. The legs are just too sore for the fast stuff.  Figured I'd end it with 8x200m but only made it two of those (37,38).  Bailed on the track work and salvaged the workout with the same 4.5 miles that I warmed up with, but did it in a pretty quick 29:08 with the last two miles in 5:50 and 6:02.  Really weird that I could hold 6 minute pace for that long, but couldn't make 12x400m at 5:20 pace.   S'well.  The miles are catching up a little.  I think a lot of it was getting called at 3:15 this morning for work...  Temp a little warm, 80, but humidity is gone.

Ran a good 9 mile recovery run w/ Jeff & Jacki and Dave on the trails at Hawthorn Park and around Rose-Hulman campus.  Total time 1:10:19.  Temp 80 and more humid than it has been.  Once again, called 4 times in the middle of the night for work and then an exhausting day with problems all day at work.  Took a 45+ minute nap when I got home from work before meeting up to run.

Ran a really tough 8+ mile recovery run from Meadows through Dobbs Park and back.  Garmin really lost a lot in Dobbs!  S'well.  Ran 7:40 pace most of the way w/ the last mile in 6:49.  Legs just totally spent and lack of sleep from the prior two days really catching up to me.  Warmer 86 and humid today.   Supposed to really cool off for Saturday's race.  That will probably mean a lot of dew on the tall grass Saturday morning if they haven't mowed the CC course by then.  Total time 1:05:19

Ran a pretty easy 3.5 miles in 25:13 w/ Jacki this evening down at Honey Creek MS while Austin was at soccer practice.  Had some intermittent pain in upper tibia throughout the day that kinda scared me.  Totally exhausted from work.  Got called 6 times in the middle of the night and was up until after 4:20, and couldn't get away for lunch, so I got no 30 minute power nap.  The weather is going to be great for tomorrow's race.  Legs are tired, but we're training through!!!
