Basketball this morning, stiff and sore to start off the week.

1 mile with Jarren in the stroller over to watch Jansen's t-ball practice, got there right when it was getting over.

4 miles tonight on the treadmill while watching the Cavs/Celtics game.

Easy 4 miles up to the elementary school in Hurricane and then back home. Didn't really feel like getting up but was glad once I got going, however the pace was really slow and easy.

Hour of basketball this morning, planning on doing around 9 miles this afternoon, since I don't have driver's education.

I didn't get in 9 miles, only 6 body feeling stiff and sore. Some pain in the lower left shin, kind of weird. I did explore a new place to run over by the Trails subdivision. I ran up this killer hill, up to a water tank. Between the wind and climbing a hill, I was pretty much wiped out.

Frustrating hip pain has returned! Just when I start increasing my miles and feeling like I'm ready to really train, I get these little annoying aches and pains. I guess I shouldn't complain too much many people have it much worse than me in life. In fact stopping and thinking about it I have a great life and it will be even better next week when school is out. The three best things about teaching June, July, and August. Even though it seems our district here keeps starting school earlier and earlier each year.

Anyway, enough rambling ran with Steve, Bill, and Mike tonight. I got done with Driver's Ed early so I did 4 miles around the running store and Sunset Corner, then Steve, Bill, Mike and I took off on the standard loop. Mike ran back to his house, so we extended the loop just a bit to drop him off, it was good seeing him out there again. We then headed down to the golf course. I really wanted to turn back at Sunset, but was encouraged to continue on. I had to stop for a drink and some stretching down at the golf course and again at one of the parks along the bike path. It is really starting to warm up and still very windy. The run wasn't the best, but glad I got in the miles. average pace for the first 4 miles was 7:41, then average for the last 10 miles was 8:12

Didn't make it over to run with Steve and Bill this morning. I guess Steve had to cancel also. Anyway around noon I had to take the explorer over to get new tires put on, so I just decided to get some miles in while waiting. I ended up doing 10 miles from Discount Tires then down to the river trail and back up River Road. The first six miles were good around 7:15 pace. The last 4 were slower around 8:00 pace. It was already getting pretty warm around 90 when I started. Sounds like everybody had a good time running the Ogden Marathon.

It is really helping me now that Sunny is getting into running. It makes it that much easier to get out and do some easy miles, when you have somebody to go with and talk to. I was able to get 6 more easy miles in tonight, which helped me reach my weekly goal of at least 60 miles per week. I have set this as my bare minimum for weekly mileage throughout the summer (unless my body or an injury tells me otherwise, I will shoot to run at least 60 miles a week through the summer. The main goal will be to work up to 80-90 miles a week. I've never in my life done more than that, so I'm not sure how the body would respond.

The run tonight was down through the Overlook Subdivision, then up to 100 East. After 3.25 miles I dropped Sunny and Jarren off. He feel asleep again in the stroller while I was pushing him. Then I took off and did another 2.75 over toward Hurricane and back. I about got ran off the road, by our great La Verkin City Police Officer, who was driving about 90 mph to investigate something, of course he didn't have his lights on nor siren, which is really what upset me.

Anyway, glad the week is over. After the run Thursday night and then all day yesterday, my legs were really sore. I did some stretching last night and iced a little bit and seemed to feel a bit better today. However, I still ready for a day of rest.
