| | This is not a running related post. My brother-in-law, who comes across as the opposite of articulate wrote this poem as a tribute to 9/11 on today's 10th anniversary. (No one even knew he wrote poetry. He works in a coal mine.) Tears in a Waterfall Like the thin veil of innocence over our National
eyes, twin giants fell for our witness of evil.
While we watched,
paralyzed by distance, a city responded: a nation resolved. Regular people
forced into extraordinary circumstances, emerge tragically
heroic.
Thousands of lights forever extinguished, Nation and Family weep
in quiet defiance.
Two beautiful cascading pools stand and bear witness
to the tears of a National Family held forever, flowing in
memorium.
Tears in a waterfall are forever our waterfall of tears.

| | 5 miles on the JRP, several of those with RAD and Becca. It was great having some company on my 5am run and actually seeing people other than the roller blade guy and the lady with the German Shepherd. RAD and Becca chose this route out of convenience for Becca so she could get one last run in with RAD before her wedding; today. Congratulations! That's some dedication or nostalgia or some of both probably along with a little crazy. Congratulations once again Becca. Any way, 9:20 on the warm up mile, 8:20s with the girls and 8:10 solo on my last mile. Average pace 8:40. |

| | 4 miles at 4:20am. Bright and early. Actually, that is a little misleading, it was dark and early. I wanted to be at work by 6, so an extra early run for me. Average pace 8:37. I decided to treat the last half mile with the effort of a 1/2 mile repeat. I laid down my fastest mile of the year at 7:41. That's not fast for a lot of you but I can't remember the last time I ran a mile that fast. I still don't have any endurance but I'm bumping up the miles a little each week so it will come. It was fun. |

| | 1.5 mile warm up then 4 .5 mile repeats. 3:35, 3:30, 3:28, 3:32. .5 mile cool down. 4:30am again. I thought I would be useless yesterday after running at 4:20am yesterday but I felt good. Work required another early start so therefore another early one. I hope it doesn't catch up to me. |

| | It's been a since December that I've ran at least 8 miles. Took it easy, 9:30 pace. It felt like a long run. 8 miles felt like a long run. That sucks. Work from home day so slept in a bit and ran at 7am. It was nice to have some light AND cool temperatures. |

Another surprise. 4 miles at 7:59 average, and this after a long run the day before! Well 8 isn't very long but it felt like it all day yesterday. I think the last time I had a run under an 8 minute pace was over 2 years ago. I probably could have last year but I never ran short 4 milers. I got 10 hours of sleep last night so maybe that's why I felt so good this morning. Ran at 10:30 and the weather was cool, clear, and beautiful. I layed down another best mile of the year at 7:38 on the last one. Oh, I almost forgot. Good luck to all you TOUers this morning! |
