I want to enjoy the rest of my life and to make the most of it.  I believe that staying physically fit is a big part of that.  I want to continue to run for the rest of my life and enjoy it.

Personal:

I'm from good ol' Hurricane, UT, but I currently live in Glendale, AZ where I am attending medical school at Midwestern University.  I am married with 1 kid at the moment.  I love to run, and despise treadmills, but here they are currently a necessity.

So this run was kinda tough today.  I was really winded throughout the run.  It probably has a lot to do with my diet, because I definitely could improve there.  Right now my pace is sitting at about the 10 minute mile if I intend to keep going for very long.  I want to get my pace down to sub 8 min, but I'm not sure the best way to speed up my pace.  I've been casually running for the past couple of years and my pace really hasn't gotten any quicker.  Any suggestions for improving times?

I suggest you ask Sasha what to do. He'll have some answers for you.

I really wouldn't worry about pace too much at this point. The improvement will come. Your limiting factor right now is your aerobic fitness, which is best helped by longer, slower runs. As you become more efficient your ability to push a faster pace will increase naturally. It takes a lot of patience, but it will come. Just run and enjoy it. :) And I hopefully will be recovered enough by this weekend to come and try to help you out with the hip thing. Next week for sure though.
