Felt pretty good today. Did a mile and a half warm up, then did a track workout. 1 min tempo, 30 sec mile pace, 30 sec sprinting, with a decent recovery in between. X 3. Then did another 4 miles or so. The only bad part was how hot it was. | Add Comment |

Utah State 4a 1600 (1 Miles) 00:04:22, Place overall: 7, Place in age division: 7 | | I wasn't going into this race way way too cocky. I thought it was going to be an easy race, due to my seeding, and I paid a price. I started out too slow for the first 100, and tried to recover in the next 100. I tried a 1:04 on the first lap, or something like that, and that was alright, I still felt good. The next lap I should've definately pushed it more. I got a 1:08 or 1:07. Not where I should've been, but still alright. Next lap I got another 1:08. During this lap I saw Tyler, Jerrell, Jake, and Adam just go ahead of me. This was a big mistake. I know I could've stayed close to them, but I just let them leave, and thought I would catch them at the end. I never got close. The last lap was a 1:03, which was where I wanted it, but I had so much energy during that lap, and I knew I could've pushed it some more. I was passed by two guys, then I passed them, then for some stupid reasoning in my head, during the last 100 I thought 6th wasn't so bad, so I didn't sprint or use any of my energy that I still had there. Then 2 guys passed me, and I passed another guy, but I didn't get a PR or a good place, so it was a pretty crappy race for having such a good oppurtunity/day. I knew I could've done better than that. All I tried to say was I'll make it up in the two mile. | Comments(1) |

State Track Meet 4A 3200 (2 Miles) 00:09:18, Place overall: 3, Place in age division: 3 | | I knew this race was going to be XC all over again. I did a mile easy run to get focused, then waited for about an hour or two to start. I did about another half mile, and then stretched. I talked to Louis before, and he helped me out a bit by saying this race I'll be in the top 3, and miss winning by a second or two at the most. For some reason that helped me out of ton. When we started the race, I made sure I got a good 100m start, and then took over at the 200m mark til the 2200m mark. I ran a good pace for most of it, but there were some parts I should've pushed it more, but the other guys didn't catch me for a while, so I ran a few 1:12s and 1:13s. That helped me out on my kick though, which was a 1:02. Sadly, they have better kicks, but I stayed with them for the whole race. Jake took the race, beating Jerrel by about a half second, and beating me about a 1.2 seconds. I got my goal time though, so I was way happy. Then I went on a good cool down after. | Comments(7) |
