Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Outdoor: 10k-22nd(2018), 4th(2019), 5k-7th(2019)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Track tryouts today, which is the biggest waste of time.... ever!  We did a "warm up" (400m) and stretched and did some weird drills.  Then after the 2 and a half hour tryout ended I went on a pretty nice, slower than wanted, but nice weather-filled run (5.25.).  It was beautiful and almost perfect temperature.  Felt great, until the last bit.

There was great weather today.  Until an hour before school ended.  Then the wind started and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees.  Went to the track try outs, where they let us run, but it was in the worst wind I've been in for a while.  I froze, but tried to go a bit fast.  Tomorrow I will push it sooo much though, with all these off days, I know I gotta do it.

Track stuff, but the coach asked if I would rather go for a run, instead of learning how to jump, so I said OF COURSE.  Went for 5.5 miles close to a 5:45 pace.  Planned on a cool down, but had to leave after run.

4 miles or so tempo run.  When Alex came back we did some 200m sprints on the track with the rest of the track team.  Felt great, probably could've gone farther, but might do a 5k Saturday for a hard workout, but I'm not sure.

Easy, but alright pace.  Around 6 minute.  Felt great, probably because of spring fever, but oh well, I still felt great.

Woke up and remembered I was going to do a race today.  Had some bacon, toast, and left a bit later.  It was perfect weather.  Sunny, a bit cold, and almost no snow on the ground.  I wasn't going to go all out, and instead just get a hard workout in, but then I saw Jerrel, and I just had to beat him, or atleast try.  The rest or most of the XC team were just going to run a 30 minute or so and do some very funny stuff.  I wanted to go with them, but didn't.  The race was to benefit a family that couldn't pay for a heart transplant.  We went to the finish line, and the XC team was dressed pretty funny, and they all lined up at the front without any room for anyone to pass them.  As soon as they said go the team went off and then stopped after 25m or so.  Jerrel and I battled it out from there.  He didn't know the course too well, and it wasn't marked perfect either, so I kinda had an advantage.  We went back and forth, but at the end I felt amazing (probably because I haved a lot of easy days, and Logan's team hasn't) and led the last half mile or so.  I just kept getting more ahead after that and beat him by a few seconds.  I thought it was a bit of a fast race for pre-season, but oh well, it'll probably help me.  Felt great after during the day.  Went on a 4 mile bike ride with my younger siblings that morning, and then went on a jog with my little brother, then a run again by myself and then a mile with my dog.  I just couldn't get enough running, probably because of the weather, but I still felt great after the running with my dog, but my cousins came over so I didn't go on another run.

Did some sprints in track practice, then a mile cool down.  Felt way too good to end it there, so went on a four(and a bit) more mile run, but went pretty slow said my watch, but I felt like I was flying.  That kinda put a dent in my run, but oh well.

Track, tomorrow is the blue and white meet so we are supposed to take it easy.  I wish I would've put more miles in now, but can't change the past, just try harder in the blue and white.

Blue and White meet.  Kind of a pre-season thing, to see for varsity.  Mile-4:41.  Ran with Tyler for most of the way, but then he outsprinted me at the final 300.  The wind was pretty bad, and so he drafted off me for most of it, which I'm alright with, but in a meet, I'll do that instead on others.  Two mile no one was around my pace.  Nick hadn't had a lot of time to train, so he only ran an 11-minute, and he was closest to me.  It was pretty fun, lots of cheering.  First meet I'm going to be at is the Cache-Box at USU, and I'm super excited.

Went to the Shamrock Shuffle.  There was an absolutely terrible wind for the first one and a half miles.  I've usually always loved the first uphill in this race, but this year was terrible.  The uphill plus the wind made it almost impossible to run a 6-minute pace.  My first mile clocked at about 6:20 or something like that.  My next miles were faster, but the wind wasn't pushing me until halfway through. I finished with not a very good time for me, but Mitch Allen didn't finish too well either, so I didn't feel that bad about it.  His GPS also said it was 3.2 miles.  Later that day I just needed to run more, so I went on a 3 mile run 8 hours later and found that the wind had not changed a bit.

Track-  Ran some sprints today in track.  2-200s, around a 30 both, a 400, 63 sec.s, an 700, not timed, a 250, not timed.  I had small cool downs/breaks in between.  After it all I did a 6 minute mile pace, what I thought was one, for 4 and a half miles, possibly a bit shorter or longer, I'm not sure,  but I tried to push it, and felt like I was, but I didn't know my pace that well.

For track we did a lot of cardio workouts or something like that, then they let the distance team do distance.   We ran the golf course, which is a 4.5 distance route.  I took it hard, and then did a mile cool down.

Went for a 5 mile tempo run early.  Then did a cool down.  Not as fast as I wanted, but yesterday I took it hard, so I think I'm alright.

They had a 5k on the castaway key island.  I got lost so my time for it was 17:40.  I was angered, so I ran it again in a 17:29, which cooled my again a bit.  Then did another mile for cool down.

Warm up with the distance team ( the whole 4 of us).   We later started, and I didn't have a goal in mind yet.  The first 200 had a fast pace then everyone slowed down, so I decided to lead it for the next 400 after that.  Later I got passed by Mitch, Adam, and Tyler.  I stayed with them to the 3rd lap where some guy I don't know cut me off and threw my tempo off.  I recovered and passed him.  Tyler, Adam and Mitch were up there, but I tried to catch up.  I passed Mitch in the final 100 meters.  Tyler got a 4:30, Adam got a 4:33, and Mitch was right up with me.  I now know that I only need 10 seconds faster for state qualifying.  I'm going to try for it, but I don't know if I'll get it.

Didn't see anyone who was going to push the pace a lot for me, so I had to pace myself.  Did a good/cold warm up with Nick.  Was ready, and later just went.  Nobody was by me for most of the race.  I had some funny splits, not that consistent today looks like, but oh well.  My goal was to qualify for state, and I did.  I had a fast 800 (2:16) and then a fast mile(4:46) which later made the rest of the race easier.  I wish I would've pushed it for the last mile more.  Felt not that good during it, and after it, but atleast I qualified for state.

Had bearly any miles in this week, so tried to get some in.  I felt absolutley terrible.  I ate a banana and a piece of bread, without thinking, before I went, and those are the worst things for me before a run.  I stopped at mile 4 because I just felt terrible.  My last mile usually is my slowest, because it's the last and it's uphill.  I felt terrible during it, but I timed it anyway and got a 5:45 on it.  Kind of surprised about it.  Did a half mile cool down after.
