2019 Running Schedule

Feb - Mesa Phoenix Marathon (AZ): 2:37:45. Lingering flu didn't help, but I still got a PR.

April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon (UT). Mostly just going to be a training run. Finally got myself into the sub-4 club last year, so I'll just have fun with it this year.

May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN). Goal race for Spring. Looking for ~1:12.

October- Chicago Marathon (IL). We'll see where I'm at in Fall, but probably will be looking for low 2:30s.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy, make improvements, maximize my potential.

Personal:

I am a bioengineering PhD currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah, where I design and improve neurosurgical approaches for treating movement disorders.

Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here.

Big water to dog lake and back with Holly and Daria, then ran down the canyon solo. 9 miles of tempo, very downhill, 5:30 pace. Felt pretty aerobically easy for a tempo, but an old blister kind of blew up, so that was annoying. Had to stop for 30 seconds around 8 miles in when I flew around a corner and saw a skunk 10 feet in front of me. I really don't want to get sprayed by a skunk, so I gave that sucker plenty of room.

Very late.  Getting into really bad habits...  Need to stop getting out at midnight.  In today's case, I suppose it wasn't so bad, as it maximized the recovery from the pounding of the fast downhill miles yesterday.  In any case, today's run was 6.1 miles very easy (8:34 AP)...  Route was my place to 5th East to Liberty, one lap, then over to State, and back.  Quads felt somewhat beat up, so I think keeping it short and really easy was smart.
