Moderate run.

6:01 am, 37-41° F, 38% humidity, wind 7 SSW.

This is the longest I've run on a weekday (not counting the week we did our long run on Friday instead of Saturday) in a long time. I started out on my old 6-mile route, and so I did the Gleneagles/Quebec hill, but then I wandered around my neighborhood for a couple more miles at the end of the loop. I didn't run terrifically fast today and I kind of struggled on the up hills, but I got it done.

I know that 7 mph winds aren't that bad, but the way things are here, most of my uphills were into the wind, so that was a bit of a challenge.

I asked my son what he thought when he saw my running on his way to school yesterday. He said that he thought I was doing hill sprints. I asked him if it embarrasses him to see me out running and he said no. Then he asked how fast I was going on the hill sprints and I told him and he thought that wasn't very fast.

Kids are always good for a new perspective - HA! Nice work on the long mid-week run, I'm sure it feels good to get out and get them in lately, you are doing a GREAT job!

What a good son.

Good miles today! You're really rocking the workouts lately. You had some good faster miles mixed in there, too.

I can't decide which is worse, hills or wind. On one hand, at least hills have a definite beginning and end, plus a downhill. But on the other hand, uphills sometimes feel interminable. But then the wind lately feels like it is never going to stop, either.

Maybe it's a tossup.

Whatcha reading now? I finished my book on Sunday and have not picked up anything else. Got any recommendations?

I think I need to take a break from reading and get some housework done. I'm afraid I don't have any recommendations right now. Maybe in a few weeks I'll come up with something.

My son is the only person I can tell that I ran 50 miles and he'll just nod his head in approval, no other facial expression. It gives me that feeling of, "yep, that's what I expected". He's the one person that assumes that whatever I'm doing is normal. Ha.

Well, I think your hill sprints are fast!

I'm struck by what a great example all these mothers on the blog are to their children. Very awesome, especially in these silly times.

Well, have him try running up the hills!!! And into the wind! Not an easy task. BUT it is great that he does not get embarrassed---he is proud of his tough mommy!
