Did a run before we took off to northern Utah. This was the hardest run I've ever had. From first step to last. I know I didn't run the whole half on Saturday but I did hit the first 5k in 14:50 (a PR) and I think that first three mile is what jacked me up. I'm sore like I got jumped by a bunch of thugs. Like deep tissue sore.

Got up at 4:15 so I could go run with Sasha at 5 a.m. Those guys don't mess around about getting up in the morning. We did the first 6 or so easy and then started a tempo. I knew that with these sore legs it was going to be trouble. So my plan was to bail out at 2.5 miles into the tempo when Sasha turned around. It almost worked. I had to slow the pace down at 2 miles into the tempo. My quads hurt like never before. Then it felt good to just finish the run at easy pace. Now we are off to SLC to a wedding. I'm not sure I've ever mentioned this before on the blog... but I'm not a big northern Utah fan. Too cold, too many crazy people, and not enough color in the rocks and dirt.

12 mile run this morning from Orem up to Provo canyon and back. I was going to go with Sasha this morning... but I just couldn't do get up at 4:15 a.m again. So I slept in until 8 a.m and then went. The run ended up being right at 7 min mile pace.

Good run. Legs are slowly getting over the soreness.

I didn't really want to go this morning. It was 11 degrees first thing this morning, 22 by the time I got up (8 a.m.), and 31 when I went out. So not too bad considering how cold it was early on. I did the Teasdale loop the I do when I'm up here in Torrey. Other than I extended it down past the Morrel farm and back into town past the old lower field. Pace for the run was 7:03 min mile. I just tried to stay relaxed and enjoy the run. The altitude was an issue today. I felt like I was really out of shape... and I know I'm not in peak shape but all things considered I'm not too bad. Started at around 6,850 and climbed to around 7,400. All that with the three extra layers of cloths and I was wanting to cut it short. But in the end I'm glad I got out and got some miles in.

Now it's almost time to do the turkey thing. Then we will drive back home today.

6.1 miles this morning on the treadmill.

I started to get a small cold last night. So I stayed in this morning to try and minimize the effects. Family in town so busy... but hope to get out this afternoon too.

8 mile run this afternoon. I waited around until it got warm. 60 degrees by 2 p.m. The run was yhingly and blamped. I was just glad to get it in and be done. I've got a good head cold and sore throat. I'm hoping some warm Red Raspberry Tea will take the edge off tonight. However LSU losing just made my week so I could be sick for a few more day and still be happy.

Good run this morning with Logan. We met up at the running store at 8 a.m and headed out. I thought I'd take him on a local favorite over to the T'bone trail and up past the water tank on turkey farm road, then over the trail to Winchester Hills and back down the marathon course to the store.

We took off and I could tell my sickness (head cold) was still a factor. As we ran and talked I was way short on breath, but the body felt fine. The first 7.5 miles are a pretty good climb, in fact you don't stop climbing until around mile 9 just above the Ledges Golf Course. By the time we finally got to the top I could tell that both of us were ready to be going downhill rather than up. We made our way over the golf course and hit the paved road down into town. Now we started to lay some tracks. Our five or so mile splits down to the store were:

1. 5:34

2. 5:19

3. 5:43

4. 5:32

5. 5:13- this was only a half mile time pace. However we started into the faster pace about a half mile before the actual fist mile of tempo. So it ended up being pretty close to 5 miles at temp type pace.

Not crazy fast but a pretty good workout. Those first 7-9 miles were not easy. We kept a pretty good pace on those as well. I was glad to get this kind of workout in. It's been a while. It was fun running with Logan and trying to recruit him into moving down here. It would be nice to have Logan down here to help push Dave, and I.

After we got to the store we did around .7 mile cool down around the parking lot.

Now that I'm done for the week I can go take a bunch of cold medication and spend the rest of the day on the couch watching two good football games. BYU vs. Utah and Kansas vs. Mizz- should be fun.
