DC loop in reverse then a little extension in Little Valley at the end. 7:06 avg. Overall felt a little better than yesterday and just relaxed. Thought the pace was actually a lot slower during the run. Left quad is still super sore. Tried to roll it out with the stick and it's just too tender to put any pressure on. So it will be a few days before I can actually dig into it.

Trying to put together some race plans for the spring and summer. Looking at maybe doing the LA marathon in March and then San Diego in June. Plans aren't final yet but nothing else really works in that time frame. I'd like a couple mostly flat and sea level races to see what I can do. Would love to break 2:30 again.

Those both seem like good races and courses that would give you a good shot at sub 2:30 on a flat course. They are spread out enough too - you'd have plenty of time after LA to take some recovery then build back up for SD.

Yeah that's kind of what I been thinking. I wish I was going to Beantown with ya. I'm kicking myself for not signing up for Boston. Didn't feel like it back in October but it sounds great right now.

Thats the tough thing about having to decide sooo far in advance. They should have guaranteed later entries for guys that have BQ minus 30-something minutes like you. I remember back when I was in high school - the guys in my town used to go for the "last chance" boston qualifier in February. Can't do that anymore.

Its too bad LA doesn't have a half-marathon, because that would be perfect timing for me in terms of Boston prep.

Dude, ever considered the Newport Marathon here in Oregon? Saturday, June 2nd and flat/sea level. Sean sundwell (sp) ran it a few years ago and hit 2:22 or something with zero competition. I'm thinking of doing it and if you come, I'm in for sure.

Cheap flights from Vegas to Medford or Eugene on allegiant air (I had family fly up 2 weeks ago for 20 bucks each way).

Glen... wow. I'm thinking about it now.

How far of a drive is it from Medford or Eugene to where the race is? I don't care about winning of placing as much as I do just running a solid race and trying to break 2:30 on a flat course. So I want a bunch of guys to pull me along.

I'll write more tonight when I get home from work--I can't send links from my phone.

As far as driving distance, its 4.5 hours from Medford, 2 from Eugene and just under 3 from Portland. Portland would obviously give you the best options for flights and might be relatively cheap as well on southwest. Not sure.

I think the website is newportmarathon.org

And read Sean's race report. It sounds like a fast course. Very honest. Seems like back in the day sasha mentioned on the discussion board about bringing a group up to shoot for the Olympic trials time based upon Sean's positive experience.

Let me know what you think!

Get Dave to come as well and we can hit a great time. ;-)

Thanks for all the info. We are definitely looking into the race. I've tried to get Dave and Logan to do a spring or summer marathon but they are signed up for Squaw Peak in June and are planning some trail stuff.

I'll keep ya posted about what we decide.
