7 miles this morning on the treadmill. I was sick all day on Sunday and questioned the run this morning. I got up and felt o.k. but decided that staying inside would be the best option. I may end up using the treadmill more now through the cold part of the winter.

7 more miles on the treadmill. I started watching season 2 of Prison Break to pass the time. I'm still packing around a little head cold so the inside running won't hurt me.

I am curious Clyde why do you run on a treadmill when its cold, is it a personal preverance? Is it bad for me to run when it is below a certain tempature? I ran this morning and it was in the low twenties and last year I ran when it was in the single digits, I must be crazy, atleast my wife thinks so...

Clay I just try and avoid getting sick. I tend to get sick when I go out in cold weather and run day in and day out. Most guys on here will go out in the cold, and I will sometimes but if you can prevent it by staying inside then do so. My treadmill is pretty nice and I might as well use it a month and a half out of the year.

Last year I did a run with Sasha up the Provo Canyon and when I got done I had ice hanging off my ears. It was like 5 degrees with a wind chill well below. For me that was too much but Sasha does it every day.

That is because you have lived in St. George too long. If I had a nice treadmill I would use it too. But Allison would use it enough that I wouldn't feel like it was a waste, so I still might not use it much.

People don't get sick from getting cold, they get sick from staying inside and sucking down everyone's germs. The cold can overwork the body a bit but we get the flu bugs and viruses from being inside. The worst thing for me this time of year is the lack of daylight, I hate when it gets dark at 4:30pm!

What kind of treadmill to you have? I have a Proform that I use sometimes, but mainly I run outside...

From Superfly on Mon, Dec 10, 2007 at 14:56:19

It's a NordicTrack Elite 3200 with a LCD t.v and an MP3 hook up and a bunch of other stuff I don't use. The best part about it is that it has a bigger motor than most so it doesn't slip or skip regardless of how fast you turn it up- just smooth and steady.

But don't get me wrong as nice as a treadmill can get I still don't like running on it. Sometimes it just sounds better than the dark, cold morning outside.

Amen to that, I am up at 5:45 every morning and it is very hard to stay motivated some mornings...

Thanks for your imput Clude, I appreciate you taking the time.

It does take a little extra to get out when it is really cold in the morning.

That is one good part about running in the evening- even if it is dark, it is a bit warmer than at 6 am.
