2 mile run this evening down to the corner and back. Just a short little shake out today.

Here is my crazy news.... I've posted this same thing in some replies on the subject from yesterdays entry.

Thank you everyone for your support and friendship. However this story ends with the craziest twist I've ever been through. We found out today that someone acted as an authority and called my friends family and made up the whole story. It was all a lie. Whomever it was got my whole ward stirred up and hundreds of people that know my friend. Now our hearts of sorrow have turned to that a complete anger. At this point I really don't know who to believe as this seems like it's come out of some movie and not my real life. I can only imagine what his family is thinking. But I'll take the positive in knowing that nobody is dead.

Sorry to involve all of you-

Clyde, sorry to hear about your friend. One year after graduating, my best friend from H.S. committed suicide. Its a tough thing to go through. We always look at others and think everything is easy and perfect in there lives. Its been 19 years since my friends passing. I still think of him alot. I have talked about him in church, to my young mens group and my own kids. Some of the mistakes he made, have saved others from the same fate. No life is a waste, I was mad at him at first but after speaking to friends, family and church leaders I decided, it was not for me to judge. Theres someone more qualified for that than me. Clyde, one of the reasons I love to run is time for thinking. Long runs are the best and believe me, I will be spending some time with my old buddy at STGM. Just my opinion, but I think your friend and his family would be truely honored. If your friend was able to spend some time with you on the course this Saturday.

Clyde, I can't believe that. What would posses someone...? Well I am glad that things are okay.

What a cruel joke, but on the flip side I was really impressed by your willingness to put things on hold for the support of your friends family.

There was something in the newspaper or ksl.com about something like this a few months ago- the police were investigating (though I think it was in SLC). It may be worth involving them again- impersonating a police officer, plus being very cruel.

Clyde--I am glad to hear that this turned out to be a false story. Putting on my lawyer hat for a moment, there is something called "Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress" and this certainly qualifies based on what you've mentioned here.

By the way, I'm very glad you will be able to run the marathon, now.

Thanks again everyone. I'm not sure what is going on legally right now between the family and the person who cried wolf. At this point I'm just trying to get my head back and get ready for this weekend. I guess that's one way for me to not stress about the race this weekend... because I sure didn't think about it on Monday or Tuesday.

Jon- I too am very glad to be able to race now. Looking forward to seeing everyone- drive safe.

Wow Clyde, I just read the blog, Dave called me Mon. and told me and then I have never heard back that it wasn't true. I was just trying not to feel guilty about coming to St. George and missing the funeral... Wow. I need to call Lori and talk to her, I think that she lives down there somewhere, maybe you guys know how to get a hold of her. That is just crazy!
