9.5 mile morning run. Same as yesterday. I've been troubled the last two day with shin splints...... I guess thats what it is. I've never had them before, ever. Why would I suddenly get them in my right shin? I'm hoping they leave just as fast as they showed up.

I'm still gearing up for my big new "thing" tomorrow. That is if I'm healthy without too much stress from the shins.

I would go and get your calf worked out asap. Marcie has a good girl she goes to. You don't want the shin to get bad. After she works it super deep go home and do the ice/heat thing a couple

of times.

For me, I notice pain in my shins when my body is low in iron. I've taken an iron supplement for about 6 years and have no problems in my shins if I am consistent with the iron pill. Just a thought....

I've had them and they are a pain in the rear!!! I would echo what Josse said work on the calf and then ice and heat like crazy:-)

Good luck...

I have April Larsens phone number at the store if you need it. Like josse said it can make a difference.

can't wait to hear how the "thing" goes tomorrow. Good luck with that! Wintercrest works wonders on shin splints. I love that stuff!

From Dustin on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 12:32:03

Now I'm interested what is the new "thing" or do we have to stay tuned?

From dave holt on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 13:02:07

Happy B-Day tomorrow! Could the big thing be related to that? Be careful w/ your mileage with shin splints coming on - catch them quick or it will be a bugger for a long time (so be careful with the "big thing" tomorrow)

From Steve Hooper on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 13:09:56

Ditto on the Happy BDay Tomorrow!

I don't know what all the fuss is about your "big thing". You sure do know how to get excitement going on the blog Clyde! Keep it up.

From josse on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 14:53:41

I use the wintercrest too and love it. But I still would recommend getting them worked out.

From jtshad on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 14:57:50

Happy Birthday and hope you get over the shin pain.

From Jon on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 15:00:53

When I started having shin pain, I would wear only new shoes for a bit and run as much as possible on soft surfaces (grass, dirt, etc).

From Superfly on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 17:54:15

Thanks for all the support. I'll try to ice out the shines and see if it gets worse. I may also stick to newer shoes. Hopefully with my little plan tomorrow it won't cause any real issues.

Dave it is related to my B-day... but that's the last clue. Until tomorrow kids!
