I admit, I only did this run because Flatlander dared me to.  My knee's not 100%  better, but when you have a chance to run in 105° weather, man you gotta take it.  I did take a water bottle with me this time.  I'm sure I would have been fine without one though.

Time - 26:37 (avg. pace 8:53)

Wow 105... ouch. Flatlander does like a good dare. I thought he dared you to... oh wait, never mind. Back to my 8 tracks "The Do Run Run Run the Do Run Run"...

I thought I was running in a steam sauna today. You WERE running in a dry one.

Nice pace for any day, esp such a hot one.

Gotta do the dares Burty? I like it!

From Lily on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 11:57:03 from 67.199.178.210

ha ha ha ha! You sound completely insane "but when you have a chance to run in 105 degree weather, man you gotta take it."

LOL!!!!!!!!

From Burt on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 11:58:35 from 72.223.90.79

That's better than being partially insane.

From Squirrel on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 13:08:20 from 209.175.175.238

You go Burt!!!! You are my hero!

From Squirrel on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 13:09:47 from 209.175.175.238

So whats with the Mizuno shoes-do you have a contract with them? I am trying to find shoes i like as much as asics

From ChrisM on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 14:26:55 from 86.10.81.85

It is better to be hot or cold than luke warm...

From Burt on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 14:58:34 from 206.19.214.144

Squirrel - I really like Mizunos. They work good for me. I've been afraid to try others, but I just might try a new brand for my next pair of shoes. Haven't decided which.

Chris - luke warm = partially insane.

From I Just Run on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:13:52 from 67.79.11.242

Hey Burt, You might just make it as a Texan ... being able to run in that heat!

Oh...BTW, how old are you? I'm thinking about "double-daring" you!

I had some Mizunos. They hurt my feet. I have really high arches and I don't think they had enough arch support and the bottoms were too flexable. I'm trying Brooks now.

From Burt on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:16:35 from 206.19.214.144

Well, I'm happy the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship, but I don't know if I'm cut out to be a Texan. I'll be taking a look at some Brooks for sure.

From Squirrel on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:19:23 from 209.175.175.238

Thank you I just run-I have really high arches too. I keep trying other brands and they just don't seem to work. I need to look at Brooks also, just keep going back to ascis. Heard it is good to have more than one brand though.

Burt-partially insane??

From I Just Run on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:19:32 from 67.79.11.242

You know, I'm actually happy the Mav's won the championship ... That's because I know the Spurs can beat them any day with one arm tied behind their backs!

From Burt on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:20:56 from 206.19.214.144

You mean one robotic arm tied behind their backs. Because Tim Duncan is a robot.

From ChrisM on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:21:47 from 86.10.81.85

Brooks T7 (or T5/T6) racers are awesome I have about 700 miles on a pair of them!

From I Just Run on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:28:48 from 67.79.11.242

Hey Squirrel,

I haven't been running very long and have only tried three brands (Brooks Launch, Mizunos Wave Rider 14 and Nike Moto-6). Of all three I actually like the Nike Moto 6 best of all. Even though they say it's really designed for a heavier runner (I weigh about 160) it seems to have the best support. The sole is a little stiffer and you don't feel the road as much. I don't like to feel the road on my feet; it seems to resonate from the bottom of my feet and up my legs.

From I Just Run on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 15:31:47 from 67.79.11.242

Burt,

You're right but I think they're going to have to prime him with a little rocket fuel to get him to move a little quicker :-) He's really slowed down the last couple of years.

From SlowJoe on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 16:27:50 from 132.3.53.68

Who could pass that up? I like your style.

Awhile back, I joked that I wanted to see Flatlander do a 30-mile long run and the next weekend he actually did it. He doesn't mess around.

From ChrisM on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 16:31:45 from 86.10.81.85

I wanna see Burt run 100 miles in 100F--only joking! LOL

From I Just Run on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 16:40:16 from 67.79.11.242

Hey Chris,

Don't back out of a double dare... Go ahead and tell Burt, "I double dare you to try and run 100 miles in 100F heat". I think you should also add 100% humidity to that double dare!

From allie on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 23:26:03 from 24.10.191.18

306.

From Burt on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 23:50:17 from 72.223.90.79

and dropping.

As soon as you guys can find me an environment where I'm actually capable of covering that distance in 15min/miles where it stays a constant 100F, I'll do it. Now, get on it!

From Dan on Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 00:17:18 from 24.209.83.20

Dallol, Ethiopia.... has had an average mean temperature was 94 °F... I say close enough! I am sure the fellow bloggers will let you slide on the 6 degrees.
