PM - had plans to do a long run early this morning but storms changed my mind.  Tried late in the day to get some marathon paced miles in on the treadmill- the good news was my HR at MP was ideal for about 3 miles - the unfortunate news was the PF pain was quite sharp today - making me fear a that I could tear it - so I bagged the rest of the effort and did some indoor rowing.  Spent the next few hours reading about different diy remedies for PF.

Sorry to read about the PF, Bret. My wife is battling it.

I had a persistent bout with it, lasted somewhere between 1-2 years. In my case, stretching and icing didn't help much. Ibuprofen relieved it but was just a temporary fix. Oddly, the one thing that massively helped was simple - did 10-20 calf raises, 3 times a day. Strange that so little effort helped so much. Although cause and effect is never certain - maybe it just backed off in the same timeframe. But it did seem to help.

Thanks Drew - I will give that a try. It is a frustrating and somewhat unpredictable condition that in 35+ years of running I have managed to avoid until now. Just gotta deal with it.

Wow, that's pretty amazing you've never had it!

I hope the calf raises help - if anything, be careful not to overdo since they are so easy.
