Today I ran the 5k, it was a good race. The weather was perfect. I wanted to win my age group, which I did so that was good. I also wanted to just see how fast I could run to kind of compare my level of fitness with years past. My splits were a 6:38, 6:22, 7:19 and a 1:05. I was glad that my second mile was my fastest because it is the hardest mile, but I let my third mile slip a little bit too much. It didn't feel like I slowed down, in fact It felt like I had sped up, but obviously not. Overall it was a pretty good race, I gave a good effort and I think my legs were a little bit tired from the races yesterday. After the race I went back to my dad who was doing the marathon. I ran a few stretches with him on 500 east. and then a little bit on Rio Grande. Today was good because it helped to give me an idea of where I am, and what I need to do to improve. |
