10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:46:15 with the last 8 miles at MP.  Ran on the Rillito River path - the flattest run since around Christmas (when we were in Gulf Shores, Alabama).  There are many mile markers, but not 20 miles worth.  I did 4 miles out-and-back from my secret parking area (near mile marker 2 1/2 -- almost 400 meters from the 2 1/2 mile marker actually ;-) ) - and then proceeded to head East to ~ 4:30 mins from the 10 mile marker (from 6 1/2 to 8 1/2 is missing, and then from 8 1/2 to 10 is missing) and then turned around.  I know exactly where 7 miles is, and I hit that in 1:01:09 (8:44 pace) going out and 53:35 (7:39 pace) coming back.  The only other pace information I have from the MP portion is miles 8.5 to 5.5 were 22:52 (7:37) and 5.5 to 2.5 were 22:36 (7:32).  I was not actually timing each mile, I was trying to "find" the pace that I thought I could run for 8 miles, and I adjusted and readjusted throughout the run.  Greg calls this "tuning your internal Garmin" ;-).   It is old-school, but it usually gives me a pretty realistic idea what I can run - versus trying to hit a pace that I "want" to run.  Sometimes it is disappointing, but, for me, it is realistic.  The bottom line is that it is possible that can run somewhere "around" 3:20 -- maybe not under 3:20 (which would be 7:36 pace) - as a matter of fact it might be more likely that I run a little slower than 3:20; but I am probably not out of the ball park ;-) -- if I can stay healthy!  I have two trips in the next 4 weeks, so fingers crossed I still juggle training and traveling!

Anyway -- off to watch Rupp's 3k race and Matt Centro's mile race from last night!

Happiest of Sundays to you all!

Nice pace work - you have such a great mileage base, I bet you do have the strength to carry that pace for a marathon.

My internal Garmin is constantly malfunctioning, glad yours works better!

Funny -- I am a gadget freak -- but mainly of the computer/Android variety (I have and Android phone, a tablet computer, a laptop, and a shared desktop computer - with all sorts of operating systems!) and not of the running variety ;-)

I hope so Joe, but I still remember (4 years later) how horrible those last 3 miles can be ;)

Your internal garmin seems to be very well calibrated, what are you talking about!? Your training is awesome!

yes, i am aware of your love for computer/android gadgets. :)

i am sorry that your dogs seem to love them as well.

Thanks -- I have to keep an eye on my (tangible) Garmin all the time though...it's my security blanket!

Fantastic run Bonnie and I definitely love the internal garmin approach. Good luck with your travels in the next few weeks.

Nice 20-miler Bonnie!!! Plus, very true about "tuning your internal Garmin." I love this! I really depend on my actual Garmin, but I love the feeling when my body is able to set the pace that is just right (especially those times when it's faster than what I was capable of running for that day).
