10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9 miles, 1:20:34).  Nice run ... I was a little emotional.

PM: easy 4.

Processing.  Surgery is not scheduled yet, waiting on some more genetic testing to see if a simple (breast conserving) or more complicated (e.g., both breasts go) surgery is required.   The initial genetics of the tissue is of high risk.  But, in the meantime I get to meet my radiation oncologist.  I have a TEAM (e.g., medical team) we don't have t-shirts, or a name yet, but ... hey, I have a team!! ;-).

Just caught up with your blog. You are being so strong about this whole situation. I'm relieved that there is a good outlook but still can understand how stressful this must be. You're in my thoughts :)

You gotta work on a good team name!!

I will be a fan of you team! Thanks for sharing Bonnie, FRB is behind you.

It is funny, because I am a scientist, I tend to look at things scientifically. But I am more and more it is starting to sink in that it is not really science, but *me* and so I am a little more worried. So, I just take it one thing at a time (today was all about "choosing" my radiation oncologist -- kind of like the first base-person ... a very important position, you know ;-)).

Bummer is that I probably won't be running the wedding 5K ... but maybe I can jog it, and at the very least I can CHEER!!

Sorry to hear about your back Andrea ... did you bring your tennis ball with you?? can you find one? if you can, it might help to sit on it for a while every day ....

Tonight I went to a Young Women/Mom conference through the LDS church. President Monson said something there that made me think of you. He said "By the yard its hard but by the inch its a cinch." It made me think of your good attitude of taking one day and one thing at a time. It is so hard to not be able to change or control all things that come our way. Please continue to keep us posted on your progress! You Rock Bonnie...and you ARE a rock too! But it is also OK to have some mini breakdowns here and there too.

Aww Bonnie...I'm sorry. I'm a fan of your team too.

From Bonnie on Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 17:14:46 from 64.119.33.134

Thanks Catherine ... don't worry sweetie. I keep telling everyone, "I will live a long and happy life, it is just not clear if my breasts will be along for the ride". Sobering yes, sad, yes, but certainly NOT life-threatening. Short term - problem, long term - just a little blip.

These are my mantras ;-)

I really can't tell you how much having the support of FRB means to me.

Oh, and I have some contacts for your sister (some LDS friends of mine know of a potential housing situation - info they have from some friends from their ward - they will be INVALUABLE contacts!!).

Thank you so much - I'll tell her. Her husband Joel is actually in Tucson until Tuesday looking for housing, so that'll be helpful. His residency is going to be in radiation oncology, btw...I can't remember if I told you that before.

I want to be the team captain, team Bonnie! :) you're in my thoughts. Hope you're doing well.
