10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

I am pre-blogging -- in hopes that I can run in a few hours.  Had my endoscopy today - just as we thought, pretty severe gastritis ... had to take some tissue to try to find out what is causing it.  But, got some "better" medication - and since it is sort of getting better on its own anyway - or at least I can eat again (I can think of much better ways to lose 10 lbs, especially since my clothes don't fit now) and can run.  Can't run right now because I am still loopy from the drugs.  I also have a huge bruise on my hand from where the nurse couldn't get my IV started properly -- ended up that the vein collapsed and she had to go to the other side.  So, I got to relive it twice ;-), good times.

Anyway, once I don't feel as groggy, I hope to jog in the freezing rain ... and I will LOVE it.

For your reading pleasure ...

By the way, funniest thing, it is is 38F here today - snowing just a ways up the road.  Well, I am on my way to DC tomorrow for a meeting - it is 54F there!

Wow...13:07. What would that be like? And I love that the author of the article spells his name the same as we spell Elliott's. Sometimes I still wonder if we should have gone with one t.

I'm sorry about the IV and everything else you have going on. I hope you get to run tonight and that the better medicine really is better.

I know! 13:07, and he looked like he was jogging!

For what it is worth, I prefer two t's myself ;-). The iv was ok, it was worth it in the end, as I felt no pain at all ;-).

Wish we could've met up with you while we were down your way this past weekend. Sounds like you have been super busy and have a lot going on. AZ is so amazing to get away from cold winter in Utah so there will be a lot more chances..Jake's planning to be there in March for the Bandidos 15K so maybe you will get to meet up then!

Wow 10 lbs is a lot of weight to lose so quickly! Part of me is jealous (b/c I'm gaining a lot recently, and the other part makes me want to eat more in your honor :o)).

Oh - speaking of being in Arizona - my brother-in-law is starting his residency at U of A this fall, so sometime when I'm down visiting my sister I'd love to meet you. :)

WHOOHOO ... that would be so fun! Let me know if I can help out your brother-in-law (and sister) as they prepare to move here ... I can drive by potential houses and take pictures, and give my take on the neighborhoods, etc.

I have so many cool places to show you, it will be a blast!

Andrea .. yes, under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind a few pounds ;-)

My plan, right now, is to come up for the Bandidos race ... probably just to watch ... you won't be there?
