10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

Great run up A1 mountain.  A little on the slow side, but I felt much much better than yesterday.

I hope you all had a very nice weekend!!

Not really looking forward to my radiation appointment tomorrow morning, just when I am starting to recover from last week, but the good news is that on Thursday I will be half way done!!  yea!  And, I am still hoping to maintain my goal of at least 4 miles/day through the end of treatment ... as of right now, I think it is doable!

Thank you so much for the comment that you left on my blog. You are from AZ, so you would know heat. I don't think I have even started to face the beginning of what lies ahead. I have been trying to drink a lot of Gatorade after every run.

Good luck with radiation. I didn't know you were having to deal with that, I am sorry. You are very strong for continuing to run. Keep it up!

Hi Bec -- I never get used to the heat - I am not a warm-weather person ;-). I use http://www.emergenc.com/index.php/products/specialty/electro-mix as my electrolyte mix because it doesn't have any sugar in it. One packet can last me 2-3 days. It is so important to stay on top of it, at least for me, a little decrease in potassium/sodium can really make me feel tired. And, heat every day can emotionally feel oppressive. That said, I just tell myself how tough I am getting ;-). I am sure you acclimate and you will feel SO strong when it cools off again!

Thank you for your kind words, it sucks ... but I keep reminding myself that it is temporary.

I need to change that -- I never "like" the heat -- I do get "used" to it ... and by the end of the summer it doesn't bother me as much!!

Good luck today Bonnie.

thanks Burt, it is every day - which is actually one of the hardest parts. But ... this too shall pass. Hope you are well.

I know you had the appointment today- pray all is well!

From Bonnie on Mon, Jun 04, 2012 at 19:54:49 from 128.196.228.134

hi Dan -- I have treatment 5 days/week, and on Tuesdays I see my radiation oncologist (and get x-rays to make sure they are zapping the right place). Today was just a "usual" get zapped day ;-). Getting progressively sorer and tireder, but all is good! thank you!!

From Dan on Mon, Jun 04, 2012 at 20:42:56 from 24.209.83.20

That's a lot bon... BUT if ya got to get zapped, let's make it in the right spot!!
