10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (8 miles, 1:12:05).  Baby steps -- it looks like baby steps, but 40 seconds faster than earlier this month ... effort is very easy (65-70% effort), legs feel good.  I am feeling more optimistic than I have in 6 months! yea!

PM: easy 4.

I finally feel ready to make new running goals!  We are heading up to Flagstaff next week (for "someones" 50th birthday) and I plan to meet with Greg and schedule my training for the next 6 months or so.  I feel like I have a solid base now, maybe one more month of prep before I hit the track, but I feel like I can handle some training stress.

Goal:  get elite status at the Woodlands marathon (last year I missed this by 31 secs, cut-off for 40-49 year olds was 1:34:00, and I had a 1:34:31) -- now that I am 50 the cut-off is a 1:42:00 1/2.  I am talking to the race director now, trying to figure out whether they will use my race from last year, or if I need to "qualify" again before then.   It is ok, either way.  I do need to run some races as a check of my fitness level, but there are some fun ones that I want to do (like the "Chocolate 15K") - but if I have to run a 1/2,  I will need to choose a slightly different set of races.  ANYWAY -- all I want is an elite start (and good porta potty access), and if they comp my race fee it would just be gravy.   My goal is to win $$ at this race ... if I can just get into the same shape I was in last December I think this is an attainable goal - since I would have been smack dab in the middle of the masters winners.  SO -- I probably won't know until I jump into some races, but I am ready to give it shot -- My goal for last year was a sub 3:20 marathon, and based on my half-marathon, I was on the way to be able to do that --  if my body co-operates, my goal is to try for it again this year!!

There you have it.

I hope your goals are working out, and I hope you are enjoying your weekend!!

i love the goals, bonnie, and i'm so happy that you are back to a place where you can set these goals and plan out a racing schedule. it all looks good. you are well on your way...

thank you allie!!! I was looking through the results from last year, and it was so nice to see your name up on the board! I am hoping that the race director just says, heck yes let's use your time from last December (that way there won't be quite as much pressure ;-) ) - but, I am pretty sure I can at least ensure a front row starting spot (and comp'd race entry/hotel would be icing!). It is nice to be the youngest in my age group again -- and now even youngest in the decade (youngest in the grandmasters category) ;-) he he

This just made my day! To see you coming back SO strong and ready to take on the elite world again! Good luck at Woodlands, with or without them using your last race. If they don't use it, you'll just go out and show them they should've! :)

I'd love to find a way under 3:20...maybe I'll just follow a day behind your training :)

RAD ... are you kidding? Based your last 1/2 marathon race you are well within range of a 3:10-3:12 marathon - you would be miles ahead of me!!

From RAD on Sun, Sep 30, 2012 at 15:17:49 from 98.202.23.178

only problem is that last 1/2 I did was EXTREMELY aided! I just hope I can go UNDER 3:30 at SGM Saturday. That 3:30:01 is killing me from Ogden!! :)

From Bonnie on Sun, Sep 30, 2012 at 15:49:20 from 150.135.115.131

RAD, you will kill SG! It is aided too, so I would bet money you will run a 3:12 or faster. Especially if you run a little conservatively at the beginning of the race, take the hill a little easy-ish and then start taking off after that ... You are SO in there. I would LOVE for you to show me wrong - and even run a sub 3:10, but I think a 3:12 is completely in your reach.

Hugs to you ... don't freak out this week, just relax ;-)
