I worked out for an hour at the Kaysville vasa and then went and dropped my new car off to get it's oil changed. I walked home and ran the last 5 minutes at 7:40 pace, I got to my house just as 5 minutes were up so that was nice. The physical therapist said to try and stay between 7:30 and 8:00 pace and 5-7 miles per week. I'm also doing a couple exercises to strengthen my achilles and gluteous minimus, although I stopped altogether for a week or so because my achilles got worse. So I ran a couple times for 2-3 minutes last week, today 5 felt good. I've also been doing some swimming, I'm frustratingly slow at it. It takes me a little over half an hour to swim 3/4 of a mile. From what I understand, a mile swimming is a similar workout to 4 miles running. So basically it's like struggling to maintain a 10-11 minute mile pace. I guess I've never been a huge swimmer. And it feels good to get some sort of a aerobic workout that has little chance at bothering my achilles. |
