Personal:

I am 27.  Have done 33 marathons and ultras. Really trying to get in shape to get back to running the miles I want to. I love to read and worked for four years in a bookstore. I like to keep track of the books I read. Currently I work as a 6th & 7th grade history teacher at the only charter school in Berkshire County, as well as serve as the coach for the cross country team! Been experimenting as a pescatarian (eating only fish) since August 10, 2011.

Just earned my Master's Degree in Adolescent Education for Social Studies. I have the most wonderful WIFE in the entire world.. EMMA! October 16, 2010

Run when you can, walk when you have to, crawl if you must. Just never give up! - Dean Karnazes -

We are all teachers and we are all students in this sport. - Dean Karnazes -

The simple act of putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward at an accelerated rate can be one of life's greatest - and simplest - pleasures. ~Dean Karnazes

"Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny." - MK Gandhi

"The marathon mercilessly rips off the outer layers of our defenses and leaves the raw human, vulnerable and naked. It is here you get an honest glimpse into the soul of an individual. Every insecurity and character flaw is open and on display for all the world to see. No communication is ever more real, no expression ever more honest. There is nothing left to hide behind. The marathon is the great equalizer. Ever movement, every word spoken and unspoken, is radiant truth. The veil has been obliterated. These are the profound moments of human interaction that I live for." - Dean Karnazes

12:00 PM - Raining, pouring, great time for puddle stomping! Went to Taconic High School for my long run. Haven't done a long run in about 3 weeks. I didn't know what to expect. Was hoping for at least a half marathon. Cruised around the .55 mile loop listening to Car Talk. Took off my glasses because they fogged up. At just under 2 hours, 1:49:45 to be exact, two pitbulls came bounding over a snowbank and made a b-line for me. I have not liked dogs since the incident in 2009 when the neighbor's dog bit me in the hand while I was running. I wish people would just keep them on leashes! Especially pitbulls! I got cornered by them, and they were between me and the car. I didn't know what to do. The lot was empty. No one else was around. I kept my eyes on them, squinting though because I didn't have my glasses and can't see more than a foot or so clearly. I kept sweet talking them and telling them to go home to Mommy and Daddy. Probably looked a dumb fool, but these dogs were scary. Made it to my car, and just jumped into the back seat to be safe! Came home and then went on the treadmill in my Vibrams for 3.25 miles.

5:20 PM - Got home from work and put on my Vibrams. Went running on the treadmill before doing some work and such tonight. I really need to make the effort to run 4-6 miles 4x a week and a long run. It is too hard right now with my crazy schedule! Did a few pick ups after mile 4 or so.

12:00 PM - Went to Taconic High School with Emmy for a run this a.m. Decided to put on my Vibrams since it was about 36 and partly sunny. Felt good to get a run in. This week was tough mileage wise. Emm ran the first 2 or 2.5 miles with me, but then had to go home because she hadn't eaten anything and was feeling a bit woozy. She got some food and came back though. I went ahead and played a game until she got back. I tried to decrease  my pace for each mile until she got back. By the end I was flying! No dogs this time, but I didn't like the fact that a couple high schoolers were cat calling me while they were waiting for a bus.  I should've yelled "nice wheels" when I saw them get on the bus, but didn't. Jogged the last 2.75 with Emmy. Going to see the Lion King tonight with Emmy and our friends Missy and Kara! Exciting! Splits were:
