I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

I made up my long run today.  It was supposed to be yesterday, but Race Director duties did not allow for a long run yesterday.  Warm up was 4.2 miles at easy pace.  A friend met me for this part.  She ran my race yesterday, then she ran back to town, so this was a recovery jog for her.  We parted, and I ran 2X15 minute MP intervals, seperated by a 10 minute easy jog.  Pace on the first interval was 7:49, a bit fast, but there was quite a bit of downhill in here.  Pace one the second interval was 8:13, exactly on pace, with quite a bit of gentle uphill in the route.  Then I jogged 10 more minutes, and did a 10 minute run at tempo pace.  Pace was 7:21, just a little fast, but there was a bit of fast downhill.  Finished with 2.6 easy miles, mostly uphill, jogging back to the car.

A pretty good run; I felt strong, and I really enjoyed the MP bits.

Probably going to need a nap today; I'm still not caught up on my sleep from yesterday.

Too tired to post this last night!  I really don't like working out so late.  I decided I needed to try out the shorts I am wearing for the duathlon.  They are biking shorts, but with minimal padding, so I just wanted to make sure I could run comfortably in them.  I biked an hour or so first, then arrived at the meeting place for my groups' hill workout.  This workout is not many miles, but its rather insane.  Perhaps too much hard running after Sunday's long run with tempo bits.  I felt good running in the shorts, and felt fine after the run, but the bike ride home over Alabama Hill kicked my butt, really.  I thought that hill would never end.

Tired legs.

Day off because I'm grumpy and not getting enough sleep, and besides my right foot is swollen up for no reason.  I did practice my swimming though.

Foot is better; easy miles this morning, just for 1/2 hour.  Had another swimming lesson today; I just am not getting the hang of this breathing thing very well.  It is somewhat frustrating.

Went for a fast bike ride this afternoon.  I was just dressed to go, and walked down the driveway and my husband pulled up and wanted to go with me.  I told him he had to be ready in 2 minutes, and he actually was!  It was fun, fast and short!  Beautiful evening here.

A tempo run sandwich, with easy miles on either side.  Total time was about an hour.  AP on the easy miles was easy. AP on the tempo was 7:50, a little SLOW.  20 minutes is a long time.

Followed with a swimming lesson.  This is the last lesson until after I get back from Paris.  Worked on crawl and breast stroke.  I swan 1/4 of a mile!

Had some errands to do later, so I got out the trail bike and toodled around on my errands.  I love doing that.  Bicycles are truly the most efficient way to move a human body.  I wonder why running is more fun?

The swelling in my foot had shrunk down to one sore bump on top of my foot and a little swelling.  I am thinking now spider bite?  Bellingham has a ton of spiders.  Anyway, still kind of sore, but not noticeable when I run.  Yesterday was one of the worst runs of my life; I battled with my right leg the whole time, struggled with form, didn't have the speed or energy for a terrific effort on the tempo miles.  Today was one of the best runs of my life; beautiful spot, easy breathing, effortless running.  Go figure!

Warm up jog,  2X200m strides.  Then 30 minutes at easy, alternating periods of MP and Easy and tempo, then cool down.  Pace achieved on all segments, but tempo segment was only 12 minutes, not 15.
