I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Final training run!  I was tired going in to this one; as I just had an incredibly high mileage week (for me).  Yesterday's restful bike ride did not exactly leave me completely fresh.  Still, I think my training partner and I did really well on this run.  We challenged ourselves with not just one huge climb, but circled around and did two huge climbs.  I think this will more closely approximate the actual race, where we will climb up to the top several times, then drop back down again.  In between, many smaller climbs and long downhills.  These mountain climbs really took it out of me today; my butt muscles are just so tired!  But I pushed it, kept going, and was more mentally strong than I've ever been.  When we got back to the flat trail, with 4 miles to go, I said no way can I do the marathon pace miles, but my legs thought different, and just kicked them out anyway!  I couldn't believe it.

17.5 miles, 3 hours, 15 minutes, AP 11:02.

Ready to taper.

Have a great weekend!

Great week of running!

You did great! How motivating! How are you feeling about ace day now?

From auntieem on Sat, Mar 06, 2010 at 18:43:27 from 67.182.146.94

Thnx, Rockness.

April, I'm feelin' pretty good. Today was me starting out very tired. If I can manage to taper properly, March 20 will be me on a full tank! That could be good. My butt muscles really hurt though.

Good job Auntie ... 'they hay is in the barn'.

Great run! Man you are strong! You're going to have a good race. Enjoy some well earned taper time.

Maybe your butt is sore because you spent the week kicking your own butt! :-)

From auntieem on Sat, Mar 06, 2010 at 20:12:56 from 67.182.146.94

JD: Hee, hee, yes that's probably it. Luckily for me on race day there will be other butts to kick!

I think you had an incredibly high mileage week by nearly anyone's standards. You are way up on the mileage board.

Congratulations on an awesome run. You are really strong and will do great in your race.

Awesome run!! Take care of the butt muscles, climbing does a number on them. And enjoy your taper!

From auntieem on Sun, Mar 07, 2010 at 14:10:47 from 67.182.146.94

Thanks, guys. I like knowing that "the hay is in the barn", but I still feel like I need to stay focused and feeling strong. My fear is the taper will make me feel weak! Today (Sunday now) I feel tired, but no particular sore muscles, just moving slow.

And, my weekly mileage is partly really high because my long runs fell on Monday and Saturday, since I had to run a race last Saturday and made up the long run on Monday.

Wow - those are a lot of miles! Have a good relaxing week!
