DNFed the Ogden Marathon with injury.  Should have heeded good advice including my own but I thought I should at least try and give it a go. Time to cut way back, heal up and regroup for another day. For now I think I'll go look into a new gym memebership and start working on weights for a while.  Overall it was a tough day and it's getting old.. but I need to stay pragmatic and optimistic somehow because the alternative won't get me anywhere.

Steve, It was great to see you at the start. Sorry the day ended that way but it sounds like it wasn't a huge surprise. I am a strong believer that mixing in some variety can help mentally, in addition to fixing any imbalances that cause injuries. And as we know, I have also had my fair share. Hope you can join us for some Sat/Sunday runs this summer.

Hey Steve - Sorry about this, but at least you pulled the plug early enough that you didn't really do any additional damage. Get healthy!

I wonder if I went into some kind of a recovery hole and ignored the warning signs. Things like chronic nagging pains along with insomnia among others. Always pushing through and not incorporating a more well rounded approach to training and recovery including strength conditioning, 7-8 hours sleep etc. The mind still believes it's 28 however the body says otherwise..

Those are definitely red flags, Steve... the problem is that there have probably been times in the past where you've pushed through them and it turned out just fine. We all do that. But eventually it comes back to bite everyone at some point. You live and learn - the "mistakes" are opportunities to improve the next time around.
