Long Run of 21 miles on a new course. No time, just ran it damn hard.. I don't have a fancy Garmin to take distance and splits so I measured the course in my truck.
Wasatch blvd and Draper long loop. /Rolling hills.

Absolutely. See the "are you a blue collar runner" threads on letsrun.com

Yeah, I never really thought about it but I suppose I am a "blue collar runner" of sorts, right down to the holes in my warm up pants and my twenty dollar timex! LOL.
I guess thats why I like the old running legends so much like Steve Jones and Bill Rodgers. They came from modest backgrounds but were still class acts.
Besides, I have used somebody's Garmin for a while and quite frankly I thought it was an overpriced toy..

Thanks Mike, That course is one heck of a roller coaster ride. The hill profile isn't really steep it's just a tough series of long elevation changes. Good training for the type of marathon races that are run locally. You have to be strong and economical on hills or you run sloppy and lose form.

My cross country team gave me a Garmin last year as a gift. Othrwise I wouldn't have one. I have to admit that I love it though. But I don't own a cell phone (I borrow my wife's every once in a while)and have never sent a text. How's that for "old school"?

You should try mapmyrun.com when you aren't sure of your distance. It'll save you some gas money, which you then can spend on an indispensible tool like a garmin.

Thanks anyway Kam, But indispensible? I have gotten along without it just fine for a decade now.
Besides, I enjoy the drive:)

Do you ever see a Kenyan in the Rift Valley on a training run wear one? My guess is probably not..
